I've had a factory towbar fitted to my 2011 Mondeo Titanium including the full wiring harness and trailer module but now the rear parking sensors aren't working properly. When I select reverse gear the sensor warning tone comes on and wont turn off unless I put it into park. How can I get the parking sensors to work correctly again?

2. Before you do that see if the problem persists when the tow bar tongue is removed from the tow bar. The trailer harness is supposed to detect the presence of trailer lighting and disable the sensors so you do not get a continuous tone about something being close ie the trailer. When the trailer comes off the sensors get enabled again - but there are lots of stories about sensors detecting the tongue especially if the ball is present. I'll not get into the debate about being a requirement that the tongue and ball be removed when not towing but this might be the fix you are looking for. Cheers

I had this trouble with the flat base for a bike rack bolted under the towball. I took it back many times, and they would "reset it", but after a few months, it would randomly detect something. It turned-out to be the bike rack base. I take it off every time now, and no problem (but the tongue and ball stay on with no problems)
