Post Nissan Titan For Australia ??

"Nissan is looking to upsize its presence in the pick-up market with the full-size Titan under evaluation for introduction to Australia.
The head of the newly formed Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi light commercial vehicle alliance, Ashwani Gupter, has revealed the brand is studying where and when it can introduce Titan around the world.
The Titan is a bigger pick-up than the Navara, with a higher payload and towing capacity, and competes against the likes of the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 2500 in the US market.
“We are studying the markets for a global application,” Gupter told Australian media in Japan overnight. “For sure there is a market, the markets are growing not only in the US but outside the US. Now we are considering many markets for the global application.”
Gupter said the decision to expand the Titan outside its traditional US market is based on the popularity of the smaller, one-tonne Navara around the world.
“The full-size pick-up market was only in the US,” he explained. “But what we see is the customers are evolving in the other markets from the one-tonne to the full-size. This we can already see from our market intelligence and customer training. And now we are studying when and how [we can introduce Titan], this is the point.”
The Navara is currently sold in 133 markets around the world and Gupter said Nissan was studying all of them for the possible introduction of Titan.
“Truck lovers love trucks, so all the markets you have trucks we are studying,” he said.
“Truck customers are passionate. They are not buying only functionality, they are buying emotional functionality. And to buy emotional functionality you need to have a passion, and when you have a passion for one-tonne you have a passion for full-size.”
While the process is only in its early stages, and as such Gupter was unable to give a timeframe on when the Titan could arrive in Nissan’s Australian showrooms, he did confirm that the switch to right-hand drive would not be a major obstacle.
Any right-hand drive model would be built direct from the Nissan factory, with Gupter ruling out any aftermarket conversion operation, such as the American Special Vehicles business that modifies Ram trucks in Australia.
US specification Titan models have a towing capacity of more than 4400kg, better than the Navara’s 3500kg rating. But with a payload capability of more than 850kg in the most capable model the Titan is similar to the Navara."

Normally this isn't so easy, and depends on wether the vehicle shares a Platform suited to both LHD & RHD.
From what I read the new Titan has its own Unique platform. they were going to share with the Dodge Ram but that didn't happen.

IMO they wont be building one of these in RHD it will never stack up.

I agree. Another pie in the sky idea that will quietly disappear once the potential sales figures are added up vs the cost to build them in RHD.

If the big Nissan is going to be built in the Nissan factory in Japan I would think either RHD or LHD would be made on the asembly line.Nissan is a global maker and as such exports all around the world.Because a lot of the world is RHD shouldn't be too hard to make either LH or RHD,surely would be better built than the converted Fords Dodges and Chevs being sold here now.

I can’t speak for the conversion companies based in the Phillipines or Thailand. But the ones based in Queensland I have seen are really good quality conversions. Some reckon the end result is better put together than what they come from factory.

I just think while everyone waits for a factory conversion, Ford Australia is crazy not to partner up with a conversion company and simply sell them through the Ford dealer network with factory warranty

A mate has had a couple of Aust converted Chev suburbans.Conversions have apparently been pretty good, but I think a factory made RHD would be a lot cheaper than aftermarket where so many bits are thrown away

If rhd was taken into consideration in the protype design then it wouldn't be a challenge. If it wasn't...it'll a full model cycle....if the cost stacked up.

"Pick-me up
The Camaro won't be the only car wearing a Chevrolet badge in Holden showrooms next year; the Silverado pick-up is heading Down Under, also to be converted to right-hand drive locally by HSV.
The Melbourne outfit has had plenty of practice over the past couple of years converting Dodge Ram pick-ups in a facility not far from the HSV production line. "

It appears that the Yanks aren't really interested in servcing the RHD market even though it would be a pretty big market. The Asians seem to appreciate the fact that there is a huge RHD market out there so why not exploit it

Much like the F-series from Ford, if they are factory RHD and sell for a few points over exchange rate, I'd be in one.

I guess they wouldn't sell any of those wheezy Ranger things then.

They'd need to cut the price of Ranger across the board for both to be successful.

I saw a P plater on the Tullamarine Freeway on Wednesday night in a new F250 that was heavily modified, lifted, big wheels, pulling some sort of off road racing buggy behind it.

I'm thinking you gotta be kidding me where is this kid getting that sort of coin from? Sign me up too

You would be able to fit your head in the engine bay next to the 4 cylinder diesel they would put in it for Australia.

I can see why Nissan wants to do it. Ford sells so many F-series in he US, it's hardly worth their time and effort to do RHD. Nissan doesn't have the commercial market share in the US, but does have a decent global stronghold. With a global presence on the Titan, the percentages could be a significant increase on both brand market share and overall Titan sales.

With Electric Steering ect in new cars surely RHD is easier to do at a factory level than ever before.
Just bring in the Warrior edition and see how they sell.

I have seen a couple of Titan in Mackay recently. Actually thought it was like the button car programme. Where Ford let them rebadge the F150/ F250. They don't look too bad. Good engines too.
