Ford Edge Specs and pricing released
http://www.caradvice.com.au/488707/2...cing-revealed/ It does look like a bit of market research before they lock in the Aus specifications . Last edited by SumoDog68; 11-10-2016 at 01:42 PM. |

hmmm on paper seems expensive for what it is. A single engine available? Seems a little risky.

Weird, announcing pricing and specs in 2016 for something you can't get until 2018.
Maybe to give people the chance to overcome the sticker shock $50k to $75k with a Ford badge - good luck selling that .

75K will get you into a Jag F-pace
http://www.caradvice.com.au/402172/2...new-suv-range/ Edge looks like a good car, but by the time 2018 rolls around its going to need to be even better especially if it starts at 50K

That's a shedload of money, the Koreans are going to sell more SUVs if those prices are accurate.

That's kinda pricey and only one engine offering (140kw 2ltr diesel), we were actually thinking of getting one but now ill be looking at the CX9 and the updated Kluger that come out next year with 220kw and 8 speed gearbox.

So does this end the naming uncertainty?
Will it (rightly) be called the Ford Edge and not rebadged as Territory 2.0 I hope so. Still won't sell at those prices. .

Toyota seem to do a pretty good job on selling kluga and the interior is like card board the nissan pathfinder runs up to 60k pretty quick so while you might not want to pay that much unfortunatly it is the about what the competion in the market is |

7 seats though. Initially they stated it would be a 5 seater, with China getting the 7 seat version.

I wish people would look further than the sticker price and actually do some research into what they get for the money. A 7 seat SUV that drives well (according to reviews) with decent build quality, and in the case of the top of the range Titanium Plus, packed full of goodies including premium leather. Forget the price, look at the car on its merits. US don't get the seven seat Edge. There's also no such thing as a "Platinum" trim level for the Edge - at least, not yet. Secondly, just because it wears the same badge doesn't mean it gets the same equipment. Look at the spec sheets, see what's optional on their Edge Titanium that we (are likely to - based on the article and what we already get in the Mondeo Titanium) get as standard. Blind spot, adaptive cruise, collision alert, power adjustable steering column, park assist, sat nav, headrest mounted DVD screens, perforated leather seats, heated rear seats, panoramic roof, roof rails, rain sensing wipers, AWD, and rear inflatable belts. Secondly, there's the fact that aside from China, we're the only other market that gets the seven seat Edge. Development costs have to go somewhere. Finally, Edge Titanium (not the Titanium Plus which is a grade above) pricing should not be too dissimilar to that of the Kluger Grande.

NO WAY would I pay that sort of premium for all that crap which at best are nice to haves. Just because they 'force' them on you in certain spec levels doesn't make them worth what they ask for them. I think Ford have forgotten who buys Fords I'll just keep driving my 'classic' 2004 models Put the coin I save into Super .

NX74205..I was refering to the choice of engines..Australia only gets one. The Titanium should get the V6 or the 2.7 Ecoboost to make it different to the base models...

How long will we be waiting for Everest-style discounting from dealers?

Welcome to Australia post car manufacturing era.
We can charge what we like, so you either buy it or lump it. (or start a new car manufacturing company)

I like the idea of that option pack across the range.

It looks like there's no announcement, a panel was asked if they would pay this much for this range, and someone broke the confidentiality agreement.
There's no confirmation on specs, they're just spouting what current specs are, and it's all guesswork. It could all change based on their research panel responses. |

So not much of an official thread.
Hopefully they do give the v6tt option. They're a nice car and good size in the back.

I think that they are limting their market if they do diesel only, pricing is interesting, makes me glad I shelved out for one of the last Territory’s.

personally this is not a replacement for the terri... is someway, saying that is a some what a disservice to the edge...
yes the basics are the same but the vehicles are some what different, the terri was some what basic, yes it was a well sorted car, but really didn't have the tech or modern comfort of the edge. I really hope the new edge is bought here as the edge and not a terri as I think it could affect image of the edge, as they is a lot a bad sigma to the terri name for a lot of not ford people (just like I personally think they should have changed the Mondeo to fusion when the current model arrived as the Mondeo name place has always struggled in the Australian market) back to my main point, you look at the prices, it certainly a bit of the shock when you first see the $75k price for the top of the range model, but have you see the luxury standard of that vehicle, like the quitted leather and plus all the tech and etc makes the price more acceptable and understanding, the terri even the top the range model was basic and lacked as lot compared to other cars, where this edge should stack up well to other cars.. also with the continue shift from sedan to suv continues, give luxury and features that is available in large luxury sedans in your large suv, to hopefully catch the cross shopper that has no loyalty to ford or a suv type of car.. make it as attractive as possible and at that end of market, the price is not as concerning then that at the low end of town, if the marketing is on point and there is no issues/recalls when released and its a sorted car, It will sell. yes the Everest is expensive as a general SUV and as a result hasn't been that big of a sales hit, but the price is not that bad as its very capable off road, but lets be honest, a lot of people don't take SUVs off road, so provide a luxury well put together SUV, that is not based on a 4x4 ute and it might just work, as you are paying for tech and luxury that you are going to use, not 4x4 capability that you are not. the 1 diesel engine may hurt it, but lets hope they at release one top of line model with the ecoboost v6 engine as the halo model with some go... to assist with the image of the model, just like the GT and Etc did for falcon, not a lot of people bought the GT (compared to say Xr6 purchases). but as a result of the halo affect of the GT people bought a falcon.

Instead of working out what it costs to a manufacture, transport and add $?% profit, just get a group of people to make up a figure, see if it sells, then either discount it or withdraw it from the market because it didn’t sell. |

It is interesting that everyone is disparaging this article for only being 'market research', and yet every subsequent comment is now part of that market research.

So if that is research, they should be getting the message that it is considered overpriced. This is not the only forum thread available about the "price"

Focus groups aren't the single deciding factor, but absolutely they ask how much you'd be willing to pay for an item, and that information is used or they wouldn't be paying people to ask the questions. |
