Hi guys,
Need some advice. Recently had my car serviced and the report came back that i need to replace the intercooler. Am looking to do it myself and was just wondering if anyone has done this. Also should i just stick to a replacement standard intercooler or should i go with an aftermarket high performance one? Will i get any benefits from an AM one or should i just stick to what's there already Can anyone recommend any good intercoolers?? Cheers Dave |

I've got an Airtec Gen 3 one on my TDCI Focus, mine is an LV though.
The intercooler by itself doesn't really make a difference to performance unless its on hot days, the standard one is a bit small. |

Thought I would hang on the end of this thread. I have a 2008 LT. TDCI focus at 232800kms serviced every 15000kms since new same mechanic.
Last Wednesday the car engine hunted a bit after a 200km return trip. Then I did a 10km trip local and the car refused to start electrics ok fuel feed issue. Anyway ended up being towed to my mechanic. Next day he couldn't sort it so towed to a specialist diesel centre. Worked on it today and verdict was petrol in the system all out new fuel filter runs good. Now I must have put 20 bucks petrol in it last Wednesday in error and it probably had 20 bucks diesel in the tank from a previous fill. Diesel centre was non committal about injector damage. Maybe maybe not. I have spoken to 3 petrol stations today in my delivery job and they reckon it will be okay. What's the verdict of ford forum ears ( I really want to keep it to January 2016 then trade it on a 2015 LZ focus mainly for the budget coping better / wife's car loan finishes January 2017) Do I run it for another year, will it be okay? |
