Like a lot of people I really didn't like the AU when it was released and basically kept not liking them up until about last year.
Now I find myself thinking the shape is really cool. I love the XR models. The bonnet details and the front headlamp design is great. The more I look at them, the more I am falling in love with the shape. I currently have a black AU XR8 ute on loan and now I'm thinking of buying one! So what cars have you hated but then done a complete backflip and now love ?

I never really warmed to the au shape, though i thought the faimont looked not bad, and to be honest , i still dont think its a pretty car inside or outside, by the same token ,
every day i drive the AU say to myself what a " bloody grouse car " , its just that good to drive. |

Other way around for me.
Loved the Golf R prior to purchasing and now I loathe looking at it. 16 weeks later and VW still can't fix it, plagued with electrical issues that they can't fix! Not only will I never touch another VW product, but I won't even hand over a cent to any of their service centres either. Not a relevant post I know but I am currently taking any opportunity to inform people of their practices. |

Toyota Corolla. After being slammed from behind by a dump truck, knocking 4 cars ahead into each other, and still being able to drive away while the dump truck needed to be towed, I developed a newfound respect for Japanese engineering.

Aurions.
I thought they were just regular family cars, until I found of they are race spec sleepers. |

VE Holdens. At first they looked so bad to me but now the shape has really grown on me, to the point where I'm considering a series 2 Calais.

Ford Fairlanes. Used to think they were way to big and kinda ugly. I still think they're excessively big and not the best looking cars, but I love em now
I've learnt now to never judge a book by its cover. May seem like a barge but the interior, handling and pulling power totally make up for it.

ZL Fairlanes - used to think they were soft looking but now think they are one of the best looking cars ever made in Oz.
P76 - used to think they looked like something you would use to jam a door open but now... Sorry, they still look like that :-) |

Used to have a Camira on my P's a long time ago
The key to a good Camira is thrash the living crap out of them ... funnily enough they seem more reliable if you do this .... never had a problem with mine. Was used to deliver pizzas in as well. Was great at reverse helis too. I knew someone who had one and drove it like Miss Daisy ... had no end of trouble with it.

I remember when I was younger ... looking at the sketches of the EA ... and thinking this was such a modern change over the X-series for it's time.

I remember back a long time ago (in a far away galaxy) we bought a second hand TN Magna Elite. It had a fancy digital speedo and IRS. The wifey loved it as it was a big step up from the Datto 120Y
It was as ugly as sin, but it grew on me....
