Default classics everywhere in Melb

Is it just me or is there just a whole heap of classics been regularly driven in Melbourne.

Every time I go out somewhere I see classic cars all the time never seen it this good before. the other day I was out I saw a hz prem very clean a zd fairlane c3 corvette camaros.

Around my local area I see heaps of cars all the time dodge's fords chev's

Even in winter I see cars out all the time.

It's just I remember even a few years back people were scared to take they're cars out because of the cops or it was too expensive.

But now it seems like people are less worried about the cops and spending money on there car I know petrol has been cheap but now it's going back up and everyone is still taking there car out. could it also be that for most of the popular cars there is now an abundance of parts and people are not afraid to use there cars as much.

I know in europe they use there cars alot because there is an abundance of parts now for the classics is it the same here now just my obseravtions on the Melb car scene

Not sure where exactly in Melbourne you are mate, but there was a car show yesterday at Narre Warren's autObarn. It was the 6th annual Hot Rod and Muscle Car Show and Shine, and damn there was some tough cars there. It's funny because yesterday afternoon I saw a few muscle cars out cruising, and it seemed odd as I usually only see one or two, but then I got the phone call that a car show was on. I would have taken pictures but I didn't have the camera with me.

Out here near Mt Macedon we get classics come through from Melbourne based clubs fairly often.

Seen the Corvette club in numbers roll through the region a few times recently.

Since I put my MGB on club plates in Dec 2013 from full reg, going by the club plate numbers I've seen, there have been well over 10,000 more cars registered on club plates. I'm wondering what they will do when they reach 99999-H, which going at the present rate will be in only a few more years.

I think the classic cars stand out more these days from the other cars because of the club plates.

But I'm still trying to work out the classic significance of a jap camper van that I saw with club plates.

I think people in Melbourne and Victoria like cars more in general and have more pride in their vehicles.
I did notice on carsales when looking up more 'interesting' cars, not just classics but even modern interesting cars, there is often more listings from Victoria than NSW even though the NSW population is bigger.
Just something I casually noticed, I haven't been keeping a running tally.

The other thing is if you're in a classic the cops leave you alone.

Get about in you're fully sick Comodore/ Ba turbo and the cops are all over you.

As Pinky said. BP east link Saturday nights from 7.30. Not an organised event people just show up. Classics, Hot rods, customs anything cool. It's a great thing nice and relaxed. They get anything from 150 to 500 cars there depending on the weather

But look up....

Melbourne Old School Cruisers
Yarra Valley Chrome Bumpers
SE chrome bumpers
Piston Steel Shakedown

And a shameless plug for the

Isbella and Marcus foundation classic car show and shine.

From 8.30 am 15th March bi centennial park. Chelsea.

Spectators Gold coin donation. Cheap fun. 500+ cars there last year. Go, it's for a good cause.

Here in NSW we love our classics and cars in general and rarely consider selling them.

Its fantastic to see more classics out and about being used as they were intended. The good weather seems to have a lot out around the Mornington Peninsula on weekends at the moment.
