I hope that when the Mustang does arrive in AU they don't have the same issues like those with the Ranger and other models, leaving this market to languish with supply problems. A good problem for FORD to have no doubt but I think when the time comes, it will surprise even FoA if they price it right.
At least we have been accustomed to paying exorbitant prices for cars here so a good price could make sales bubble along quite nicely. If anything to come of the manufacturing closers, at least prices will become quite competitive. (As long as people still have money to spend) It only takes a couple of popular models to start a discounting war. Chrysler seems to be testing the water with a few lower priced, high spec models. Be interesting to see what happens whens the Mustang finally arrives Quote:

Priced and specced well enough this should do well for FoA.
Can't wait to see them on the road.

Dont worry. I promise that there will be something insignificant that will be picked on. Stripes, colours, too many cup holders, not enough, no lipstick holder, wont tow a 26' caravan across the Birdsville track ........

I reckon they will price it high because they can, I'm calling $49,990 RRP on the 2.3L Ecoboost and $64,990 RRP on the 5.0L V8.

If it is 65k plus I would be thinking twice about getting one knowing full well what they sell for in all other countries.
I understand why a GT335 is priced as it is but a car produced in numbers that make the Falcon totally insignificant with no local manufacturing, would be very disappointed to see similar prices. I would be surprised though as I do think competition will force the price, especially after the initial burst of sales.

I doubt it will be well priced. There's not much of a market for such a car, so no reason to price it low, the volume simply wont be there.

I think it was translated from a European site as it reads that way. Quote:
Euro's and other cars have been able to ride on the coat tails of high priced locals. As the price of imports have decreased over the years, the locals have not been able to keep up ..... and now we are in this position. I can almost promise, the demise of local manufacturing will lead to lower priced imports. (sounds weird I know) We have around 60 manufacturers dumping cars here ...... more than any other country! It is now open slather for all imports with no local hinderents. It costs the same to send a container of cars here as it does to most other places in the world. If that many importers what a serious piece of the that pie and a percentage of the hole left by local manufacturers, they will need to get serious with prices!

Remember the Mustang that came here in the early 2000s? Yes I know that car had to be specifically engineered for our market but it wouldn't surprise me if its around the $50-$75K range because there are no direct competitors, and its Ford, they have a habit with odd pricing lol.

I doubt they will be cheaper than a 5.0 FPV, my guess is 10-15 K premium, probably more. And there will be plenty of takers.
When has anything been cheap here? Heck you could buy a Monaro in the US for half the price we had to pay. |

FT86 is cheap here, and Toyota is selling a bucketload; we're the third largest market for them.

American build quality is American build quality...
Some know better, some buy what's available.

Aussie build quality isn't exactly perfect either. Not even the Japanese or the Germans get it right 100% of the time.
Ford could go either way with pricing here, sell them at a good price, knowing that end of the day the money they make or lose here is minuscule with a global car. Or sell them at a premium because the only competition for a powerful 2 door in Australia is the M4/C63/RS5 which all start at around the $140k mark. Hopefully they go for the first option. There is the interesting dynamic as well of with Ford and Holden pulling out, the 300C apparently winding up in a few years as well, the market could be wide open for BMW, Merc, Audi, Jag to possibly lower their prices here on a couple of performance models. Perfect example of people thinking Australia is the center of the universe. Australia's Falcon was nothing in the grand scheme of things globally. |

Sorry but I prefer to buy made in Aus even if it cost a few more dollars. Soon I will have no Ford option of preference so lets see what will be the best available options |

So ...... while I was and still am bitterly disappointed that manufacturing has will cease here, it has to be accepted that it is and then make a point of moving on from there. If Falcons were still being made I would still be buying them. And yes, in the scheme of manufacturing vs market, the Falcon is insignificant. Never ever said the quality of the car is insignificant. No use beating your head against a brick wall. It isn't changing so everyone needs to look at the options and as I said ...... move on.

Wow....I'm not sure where all these thoughts of such high pricing are coming from? I was under the impression they were going to be pricing them very well. Can't remember where I heard this, but quite a few times I swear it's been mentioned. Aswell as the point it was going to be competing with the Gt86 on pricing...... Here's hoping

I was hoping they'd be affordable, but this is the specifications of the Aussie ones.
https://media.ford.com/content/fordm..._Australia.pdf Only two models. If you look at the specs the Ecoboost and GT, both come standard with the performance package ($2500 option in the US), which leads me to believe they will be premium priced.

EB for $47990 and GT for $53990 then onroads should be about the expected prices, theres plenty of profit in those prices and I believe they are smart enough to realise that if they price them at FPV levels they wont sell too many.

I can understand the ecoboost V6, even a pov pack n/a V6.
But a 4 cyl? I assume the Mustang will be on sale with the XR8? So will be interesting to see how they price it? The XR8 will be more powerful, so which one becomes the premium product? |

1. Naturally aspirated V6 (base model in US) 2. EcoBoost I4 (upgrade in US, and apparently primary export model) 3. Naturally aspirated V8. And then they'll add a GT350 or something a year or two later.
