Medium-duty work trucks might not be the most exciting vehicles, but they perform necessary jobs everyday. Ford is in the process of a complete refresh of its entire commercial vehicle lineup over the next 18 months, and it is debuting the all-new versions of its F-650 and F-750 trucks at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN.
"The all-new F-650/F-750 allow us to leverage our strengths and sales leadership in Classes 1 to 5 to create a better F-650/F-750 that's designed, engineered and built by Ford in the USA," said Ford spokesperson Mike Levine to Autoblog via email. Huge amounts of torque is vital for trucks like these, and both models are offered with some of Fords biggest engines. Buyers can opt for either the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel with TorqShift 6-speed automatic with available power takeoff or a gasoline-fueled 6.8-liter V10 with a 6-speed automatic. The V10 can also be ordered from the factory to be fueled by compressed natural gas or liquid propane gas. The exterior gets a complete redesign with a look more reminiscent of Ford's current truck offerings. The front end features a new, mesh grille , more angular fenders and aerodynamic headlights. The revised interior gets a 110-volt outlet and multifunction steering wheel, plus tech options like Ford Sync and Crew Chief fleet management system. Of course, these trucks have been made to work, not to look good. Ford collaborated with body makers to create a chassis that needed little or no modification to make customizing easier for work bodies like tow trucks or dump trucks. Production of the F-650 and F-750 will begin in Avon Lake, OH, in the spring of 2015 as 2016-model-year vehicles. http://www.autoblog.com/2014/03/04/f...50-f-750-ntea/

Work mate was in the USA in 2007. Camping in the desert with the dune buggy things. There is this company that bring you a massive caravan then pick it up when you're done.
The guy who brought it out to them was in a v10 petrol. Pretty sure it was a Ford. He was not impressed with it. Says its loud, thirsty and not overly powerful. I'd opt for a v8 diesel in Something like that. |

There were rumors of Ford making a hydraulic hybrid version, which would be good to bump up the power and torque figures from 254 kW / 1165 Nm (assuming as an option, it gets the same tune as the 2015 F250/F350) to whatever outrageous figure plus better fuel economy.

Picture this, sitting outdoors at Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, it's close to midnight and we are eating hamburgers in an international NZ chain called Burger Fuel having got back from one of the practice days at the Abu Dhabi GP. There is a parade of every exotica you can think of as the locals cruise the beachside suburb and in the bumper to bumper traffic passes a F650 made out into a passenger car, went past us 3 times and we fell over laughing each time. It was god damn big.

F650's are around $160,000 driveaway I believe from a qld company based in Caboolture. My wife always wanted a f150 until I showed her a 6 door, 8 seat turbo diesel, f650 that this company had just converted to right drive and sold.
Here is a link to the actual vehicle I showed her. www.maracoonda.com/Sold-images-1.html Its almost the perfect vehicle for us, just need the lotto money now. lol

But F350's are nearly the same price? Same with a Raptor.
That site lists an 07 F650 for $145k

These 650's and 750's really break into niche markets because the other big two GM/Dodge dont make anything like this do they?
The towing capacities are crazy! |

The odd thing we noticed in traffic around Las Vegas and other areas in southern Nevada was how many F250's and bigger Ford trucks we weren't seeing driving around. We saw innumerable Dodges and Chevs, plenty of Nissan Titans and Toyota Tundras and Honda Ridgelines...but very very few Fords.
However we did see plenty of municipal vehicles that were F250's and thier bigger cousins...power, water, electricity, government trucks, all the ground trucks running around Mccarren Airport...but private vehicles? Honestly, I probably see more F250's driving around Rockhampton in traffic than we did over there. The very few "big boys" like F650's and the like that we saw were some pink ones, huge vans, that took people on desert tours, and some other businesses with sign writing all over them. Very very odd... |
