Default V8 for Ford Ranger

http://www.speedcafe.com/2013/07/31/...akar-campaign/

Now we know that they fit.

I tell you what, I'd buy one of these if it were the Miami and ran LiLPG.

All that really proves is they made it fit. Just like someone made a 6.8 V10 fit into an SN95 Mustang and the 5L cammer V8 was made to fit in C170 Focus. It doesn't represent what a showroom quality car would be though. Having it already able to accommodate an engine as long as an inline 5 cylinder there shouldn't be a concern for length, but there's no V engines at all in the T6 lineup which could present a height issue if there ever were to be a V engine derivative developed.

Wow. Look at you getting all morbid and pessimist-like.

Looks like a fine basis for a Ranger based Raptor to me.

If the Ranger came with a v8 turbo diesel it would definitely be my next car.
I like the Ranger but I want a TD V8 in my next 4x4 if possible.
Unfortunately Australia doesn't seam to have much of a variety of TD v8s.

@csv8, the Raptor has been run in the Dakar, a couple of years ago I think

Take one for a drive before you rule it out. Very torquey and powerful for its size. Very close to the single turbo toyota v8s.

The twin turbo on the other hand is a beast.

I haven't driven a Ranger but speaking to a mate who has, he says it's "very powerful and tourquey"
But his car for the last 10+ years has been a early 90's Vitara, so to him anything is probably powerfully and loaded with torque.

I'm a V8 fan and I think Turbo diesel V8's sound pretty tough. I absolutely hate the sound of the 4cylinder turbo diesel 4x4 I drive at work, but I have been told the 5 cylinder sounds a bit tougher than the 4 cylinder.

Even if Ford never releases it with a TDV8, I'll probably end up in a 5 cylinder Ranger anyway.

I'm with you Ben73, a four cylinder turbo diesel is not on my wish list and I have clocked up only ~1250 klms or so in a friends 2012 XLT Auto.

Whilst it is "punchy" in quick take off bursts, I need more, and that V8 diesel sound would be the icing on the cake,

.

Ranger donk is a pearler , but I'm Gunna chip and exhaust it for over 200 killer wasps , as it is now it would level peg the fat old cruiser ...but I know what you mean v8 diesel mmmm yum . Nothing against petrol but I don't need huge fuel bills when towing

Neh. I'd rather a smaller, more efficient and modern V8 diesel. Those Lion diesels fitted to the Rangies are the shiz.
