Yes some P platers deserve some attention..
Has anyone seen how some news crews drive at times..

How many hoon stories can ACA do in such a short time? It's like a pattern, I wonder when they will do another in-car camera product plug again... They're overdue.

Man i wish i could tell my story- 9 months on my green p's illegally driving a ba xr8 in a very small town with too many cops. Did i get in any trouble? No because i behaved myself and didnt draw attention to myself, p plates have nothing to do with it

Umm !! It has a little to do with technology too...
My son's car is rego in my name.. He's driven it for
6 years..
When I drive it with P plates off..
I get pulled over to check licence and asked who normally
drives the car ??
He drives home from club work around midnight and 3 or 4 times a week
goes through breath test etc..
I assume the licence plate is registered as P platter on police computer system...

He was going 125kph on a 110kph signed road, yes still against the law but the fine for going 30 over is alot more than going 10 over.

*sigh*

I'm sure if cars weren't around ACA would still find a way to villainize a minority group using the selected mode of transport.

"THIS WEEK ON ACA - Hoon-icyclists"
"The dangerous individuals on their unicycles that think it's all fun and games, until someone, FALLS, OFF!"

"BIKIE UNICYCLE THUGS ENDANGERING OUR ROADS"

Good on ya Trace! Spreading mindless garbage and blatant lies to near-death pensioners and suburban simpletons of Australia, as you've done for the past 20 years.

Remember this is the same show that said magnetic power bands cured arthritis and cancer.

It was riveting stuff I was glued to my seat. I'd like to see them have a go at full licensed or elderly drivers. Oh wait they are all saints.

Few months until another p plate hoon special on aca.

Didn't he say 20 inch tyres?

I wonder how many average middle aged people in corollas, kias, mazdas etc are driving around with bald tyres. Probably more then p platers

I think so, but if they're 20 inch TOO big, they must be some pretty huge tires.

before the poor me cries start.. did anyone listen to that program?

P platers are targeted because they have (mostly) less experience behind the wheel.
Granted they didnt ask how many of them had completed a rivers saftey course etc..

Seat belts weren't retracting or even bolted in.. serial speeders.. 150 in 60 zones.. surely even as a poor P plater you can see that just aint right.
I was a P plater once too.. copped all the same flack myself.. but I guess as you get older, life, kids etc tends to change how you view things.

I do find the wheel thing funny though.. 20 inch rims and ****y little tyres..
My 4x4 got defected for having 33x12.5s. now thats geting closer to too big...

I think he meant too big
They looked more like 18's, nowhere near the guards
just goes to show, if they can't defect you for anything (and by the looks of the car, he couldn't) they'll make up something to defect you for.

I'm a P plater, fly under the radar with my girly hatchback, only ever been pulled over three times, not randomly either, drove right into booze bus areas twice and once they set up on the main road of my small country town, people turned left/right to avoid them, just cruised through and took the test.

Try to avoid giving them a reason to pull you over, its going to be interesting to see if there is any difference to driving my Focus or driving my EL Falcon even though its going to look stock when it is on the road, I find that with friends experience, people in Falcon/Commodore tend to be picked on more than everyone else besides the jap import brigade.

I guess if you've got a Commodore with 20" wheels on the front, 15" steelies on the back, and the *** is dumped, you're just asking for it, should be charged in court for crimes against tasteful modification.

I'm a P-plater in an EL, a very popular hoon model (lots of flogged out or heavily modded ones getting around), and I've never been pulled over and don't get any attention from the police whatsoever - mainly because I don't drive like a douchebag and I blend in very well, it's quite an ambiguous and unassuming model in it's '90s guise.

The Jap Import crowd deserve all the heat that they get

Lol, my EL is a Fairmont Ghia in that gold colour, with cappa interior, its getting lifted back to standard Falcon height and factory 15" wheels going back on. They'll probably see me drive by and think some senile old man forgot to take his son's P plates off.

That's the impression I like to give, with my sheepskin seat covers, dash mat and on the parcel shelf there's a towel, an akubra, and an Aussie flag

I forgot it had the back end lowered and a pair of stockies on there.

Come to think of it, the guy deserves to get a defect for having 20" tires.

I think I got pulled over a grand total of three times while I had P-Plates and was driving an EL Falcon.

Two of the three were RBT setup on the side of the Highway in either Coffs or Armidale, the third was a Paddy Wagon driving around Armidale late at night (between the university and town) pulling people over and doing breath tests (drove past them again with someone else pulled up about 10 minutes later).

Interestingly, the only person I know who does watch ACA does have slight intellectual impairment...
