the 5.0 is a windsor, which is another of the ford engine family, but quite different, it will fit, and your trans will bolt up but you really want a 'cleveland' . that is what is factory and a 351 cleveland is asimple crank and rods change and costs and looks the same

Any reason why you are going crate motor?
The crate motors sound good in practice but can leave you disappointed....... I would get a Clevo block rebuilt in Oz personally. |

just because im really impatient and i would think that rebuilding a motor thats already in there would take too long. plus has the reliability factor. because atm my motor runs then stops a bit. could be a new carby?

My engine builder (Altona Meadows) turned mine around in 5-6 weeks.
I am sure there are heaps out there that could do the same. |

Honustly rvsm, I think you would be better off getting a localy built motor, there is absolutly no reason why it wont be as reliable if not more reliable than a crate speical
Re the cutting out issue, is this why your replacing it? if so take it to a decent spanner man it could be a real simple inexencive problem to resolve be it fuel or ignition related, + if itsa John Goss speical, keep it one, dont turn it in to a John Goss speical thats been molested

Have a look at pavtek.com.au if you want a Cleveland fully assembled and sent to you.
If it's a JGS, I'd be inclined to retain the factory matching # block if you still have it. Have it fitted with a 351 internals or go the 393 route if you have more bucks to throw at it.
