Hey guys
Looking at getting a new car in 2012 for the mrs (in no rush) Looking at a 2011 model dualis captiva or some soft roader, I see all dealers are pushing the sale for end of 2011 most "sales" ending ending on 31/12/2011 I just want to know if they keep dropping prices in Jan and feb or are these slow months for decent deals up until EOFY ? |

Always drive away specials to clear end of year stock. the Cappy5s are a decent drive with the 2.2l diesel I reckon, though most soft roaders go alright. The new Ford Escape coming next year looks the goods to, but won't have any discounts.

April / May is a good time to run around looking for old plate stock.. By then they are struggling to move them and the manufacturers bonus on old plate stock is much better...

End of financial year, they are always eager to move stock to boost their figures for the year.

Thanks guys,
Yeah we drove an Mitsubishi ASX, Holden Captiva, Kia sportage Although the Mitsubishi ticked all the boxes it has slot of engine noise (petrol model) Kia was great however mrs felt it was to big Captiva was good however it I herd the petrol models thirsty (couldn't really tell on the test drive) Yet to drive a dualis however would lean towards a ti model possibly a demo or used with no more than 20k on the clock |

Personally I would stay away from the Daewoo (Captiva). Friend of mine has one and it's been far from reliable.
Benny.

I'd go with the Sportage out of that bunch, they are pretty much the same size even though they may feel a bit bigger.
SLi and Platinum are full of kit too. |

Mazda CX5 with Skyactiv is due march from memory and from initial previews/tests i've read it looks set to well and truly be the new small/medium SUV benchmark, the reported fuel economy claims for Skyactiv are amazing.

Is Skyactiv related to Ford ecoboost?

As far as i know it's Mazda's own design. Skyactiv encompasses Engine, Transmission and Chassis/Body The CX5 2.2 Skyactiv D diesel sips just 4.5l/100ks whilst kicking out 129kw and 420nm. This article gives a good run down on it. http://www.caradvice.com.au/104992/m...nology-driven/ Also there i ELOOP Regenerative Braking System may make its way into there model lineup in 2012 but def by 2013. http://www.mazda.com.au/community/ne...braking-system It really is some brilliant tech. |

Yeah My Mrs wants a new car and we are waiting for the CX -5. We have a Mazda 6 wagon and Id say its the best car we have ever had (excluding the old Ford toys of course), I really dont think you can go wrong with a Mazda.

Dad bought an asx for mum, you're right that it does have a lot of engine noise but I think the CVT amplifies it a lot...
I think its a great car though, definitely reconsider it. |

If you ask me these mid-class cars are far superior to the small SUV class, which are all awful on the road. Dynamically they're all rubbish, use a lot more fuel, slow and are a pest on the road (restrict vision for other drivers). A fad I'd like to see end please. |

Irrelevant anyway. Focus has been the pick in a couple of comparisons I've read (The Age - Cars) being one, it is a fantastic car that would simply wipe the floor with the Corolla, which by comparison to all the aforementioned cars is a dinosaur... I'd even add Cruze to that list. Focus is fantastic dynamically, a great dual clutch gearbox, which improves economy, all the latest gadgets, punchy engine etc. This compared to the Toyota's 4sp (awful) slush box and overall boring persona and ride / performance. |

I'd also seriously look at a VW Tiguan TDi as well ... it may be a little pricier than some of the others ... but it seems to be winning most of it's class awards and punts along fairly well.
