Default Holden Cruze hatch

http://www.carsguide.com.au/pics/hol.../2983/1/63337/

i know looks are a personal thing, and i know a lot of people think holden did a good job on the design of the commodore hatch, but i think they stuffed up the cruze. the proportions are just all wrong. personally i think it looks more daewoo than ever. they should have made it more a wagon than a hatch. just looks all kinds of wrong to me.

I agree with Prydey.

The front forward of the front wheels (and bonnet) looks far too long, the nose too high and blunt looking, the rear drops too sharply. Or is it the front wheels are too far back? IMO they could have done a much better job which would also have made the boot longer thus more practical.

I don't mind the look of that, the hatch, how it drops off sharply reminds me of the Honda CRX:

Its got American styling, I don't mind it.

If Holden hadn't treated me and the old man like crap when I rocked up to their dealership, I'd be driving a CRDI Cruze sedan instead of a TDCI Focus, Essendon Ford welcomed me with open arms and jumped right on me when I was about to step onto the premesis.

i wouldn't be so sure. what advantage does it have over the sedan? from the looks of it, luggage space will be even less.

sales might spike, as it will be a fad, but it will be interesting to see if they maintain it.

The rear of the car does make it look ten years old in the design stakes. I know they said it was designed in australia, but I didnt know they flew out the Proton design team to do it.

Exactly, I reckon Deveraux saw the end result of the Cruze hatch, and told the guys at fishermans bend they aint designing another thing ever again.

And yet the media still talk it up as being a great looker.

Its styling is like the rest of the car, average at best.

I hate the long front overhang, short rear overhang look. VW Tiguan also has this and it looks crapola.

The Cruze hatch should also have a c-pillar window like Mazda3 - thats a good looking hatch.

I personally think that the Cruze in either form looks dreadful. If it was a Daewoo, it would NOT sell at all, all other things being equal...

The hatch is ugly and already looks outdated.

Well done to Holden though. Despite all that, they sell heaps.

If this is bad then what does that make the Focus and Fiesta?

I quite like it,so does the missus.Looks better than the Lancer hatch imo.

it isn't ugly but it isn't a leader in style.
style is something the LW Focus has...
The Cruze is not offensive in terms of style, though not bland like a Corolla.
The interior though...tacky...

I think the focus and fiesta still look better.
I'm not to keen on the focus hatch either.
the fiesta would be compared to the Barina spark as well and they look Like crap

Except the CRX Honda was a great car that anyone would be happy to own in a heartbeat...the Cruze front just looks wrong somehow. That loooong front overhang. For christs sake, try and go for the old "wheel at each corner" philosophy when it comes to smaller cars.
But then again, even with our G6E I do kinda think the front wheels could have been further forward too...

I will admit that the rear 3/4 view looks really good.

it's got a sloping back like the Lancer and Impreza.
Will have to see it for real to decide if I like.

They need to do a proper sports version (like an XR5).

LOL....... The rear styling of both the previous and current model focus makes the cruze look like a work of art! The focus designers wouldn't know style if it was written across their foreheads!
