Recently I just changed the oil and added some stop smoke in my girlfriends car. The engine was quite noisy, but now sound pretty good. Pretty sure there is a hole in the centre muffler which makes a bit of noise. Basically I'm asking what are some other cheap things I could do, just to keep it going for a few more years. Spark plugs etc? By the way it is a 1998. Not looking to spend much...

It has a Mazda B5 engine, I've got one in the family, tough little bugger.
Spark plugs are easy to obtain, anyone sells them, cost me like $20 for 4, from my local rip-off auto store. Not sure about leads, haven't bought any yet. Oil filter is a Z79A OR Z436, both fit fine, the Z79A is a bit larger, but no problems fitting there, I've used both. Air filter is A1272 Fuel filter is Z484 I'm fairly sure 1998 is a WF model. |

With fuel filter, I do ours every third service, so every 30,000km, it'll be under $25 for sure.
