Default sourcing MSD coils and good plug/lead combo

g'day guys,

i tried finding it in the forums but couldnt locate it, but where do people suggest i find a good price for MSD coils? anyone suggest an equivelant alternative to MSD?
Also many are suggesting 8mm eagle leads? whose had experience with them and any positive/negative feedback?
Good plugs? Ive used NGK iridums but not all people are fans? Any other suggestions?

Im after better economy and performance.

MSD coils are cheapest from the states.

Rock Auto, Jegs etc. Part number is MSD 8241. Eagle leads are pretty good, A1 Hi Performance may be able to make you up a set of MSD ones if that's what you are after.

As for Plugs I always used and have recommended NGK BPR5EFS-13. They're a standard non-iridium plug but work well, only thing is you need to replace them more often.

G'day mate, i've finally got my au motor running in my eb so i no longer have any need for my msd coils and msd leeds to suit the au. They are in top condition, red leads black clips on coil ends and red boots. All have done less than about 5000km. $220 posted to anyone interested. Would have put them in for sale section but can't seem to use photo bucket with my phone. Cheers, preston.

ROFL just to throw a curve ball in there, my car hates NGK plugs, loves Bosch Superplus (the standard ones with yttrium). Lead wise I've been running Top Gun 8mm Spirals for over 100k still going strong good fuel economy the works.

part number for NGK iridiums to suit AU XR8's SII & III is TR55IX with a 1.4 gap if anyone is interested.

Also keep in mind that with these you need to adjust the gap down to 1.3 and NGK will not warrant breakages when you do this even though they admit it needs to be done.

Good Point!!

i would like some info to help me understand what i am buying other than Price and Brand Name

Seems the choices are

MSD
Eagle
Top Gun - You have already said don't get
Ice Leads
Motorcafts factory leads
Bosch?

Trying to work out the best OHM rating, heat shielding and considering interference

My leads currently on the car are showing a resistance around the 4500ohm mark

1 - Good but have to be made, there is no 'off the shelf' set to suit AU
2 - Good
3 - Dont bother
4 - Good
5 - Dont bother
6 - Never used so have no experience.

You will probably find most brands do not have an off the shelf set to suit AU's hence why ones like MSD and ICE are made to order.
