Changing normally closed switch to normally open

Is there some way to change a normally closed switch to operate as a normally open switch. The only way I can see is with a relay and power source. I need to do this to get my door ajar sensors to work. BA/BF doors work on switch closed = door open, while FG BEM works on switch open = door open.

Not familiar with the door switches. But am familiar with electric circuits (HV substation protection designer).

* Can you check the door switch and see if there is 3 terminals? ie both a NO & NC with a common terminal?
* Can you buy another door switch which will mount correctly?

If you are unable to rewire / change out the door switches to suit what you require. Bearing in mind there are many limit switches available. Be it Ebay or robot (just google it!!) supplies etc. Then setting up a circuit to as you suggest with a relay and power source is the only way to go. Just try to get one which is okay with the load / burden (most likely not much of a problem at all) to provide the circuit to the FG BEM.

Thanks guys. I will need to dismantle the whole lock assembly in the BA door to see if there is a third pin. Or maybe an e-series door ajar switch retrofit might do the job.

i think the easier option is to call FTG and seen if you can get some door relay's off an FG, but if there is and auto sparky or even a normal sparky they may be able to tell ya how to do it. but i think new relay switch would be easier

FG door lock assembly is all-in-one as well, and it doesn't fit into BA door without a lot of modification

No, my BA is electrically an FG. Motor/Box/Dash/cluster/Body looms are all FG. But the problem is I still have BA door actuator/lock assemblies and FG ones don't fit easily. The BA door actuator/lock assembly ajar sensor works on door shut, circuit open, while the FG door actuator/lock assembly works on door shut, circuit closed.

Perhaps swap them for some burglar alarm pin switches that are normally open

Hmm thanks for that. I think E-series falcons had this switch fitted as the door ajar sensor.
