The timing chain tensioner is leaking oil on my AU111 I6. Is a kit available to repair this or could I just use something similar to silicone??? I have removed the power steering pump and bracket for access, but it looks like a special tool is required to remove the whole timing chain tensioner assembly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a few O-rings in there. Also when you do it back up use Hydraulic sealant called master gasket. It is white.
That's pretty good stuff do it up nice and firm and you should be fine. |

All fixed now. I picked up a new tensioner from Repco and it came complete with evrything. I used the white Master Gasket around the main retaining set seal and all is good. Thanks for the advice.

The new kit was $68.00. The whole job takes about 4 to 5 hours to do. The hardest part is getting the power steering pump out of the way. It is an amazing result. What presented as an oil leak around the rear of the engine, and had me thinking that the rear main seal was on the way out, turns out to be a faulty seal on the tensioner. Because the tensioner set is near the pulleys from the power steering etc, the oil must get thrown around and then blown along the base of the sump. Definately worth the half a days work.

do you have a part number? i called up repco the other day and they said it was $260 but he couldnt even tell me what was in the kit...

Yeah mine has been leaking for the past 5 years
i just put some sealant around the cover one drop of oil per night for the past 5 years for me is a lot easier than 5 hours of annoying work
