Default DUI and pregnant

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/...-drink-driving

Quote:
A pregnant P-plater has been charged with high range drink-driving in Sydney's west.

Police allege the 28-year-old woman was driving on Woodville Road at Guildford when she crashed into the rear of another car about 7.15pm (AEST) on March 2.

The woman, who was seven months pregnant, was taken to Westmead hospital as a precaution and underwent blood tests.

Police allege the tests returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.241.

Provisional drivers are restricted to a zero blood alcohol limit.

On Thursday, police charged the woman with high range PCA and suspended her licence.

She will appear before Parramatta Local Court on June 6.
Apart from the drink driving while on P plates - well actually being almost 5 times the limit for full license drivers, don't pregnant women generally avoid alcohol? At least the ones who want their baby to be born healthy

Might be how she got pregnant in the first place. Too much booze.

Seriously though, when my wife was pregnant with our son, we were both smokers and drinkers. So we quit smoking and drinking to give the boy the best start in life. That was our number one priority. Some people don't care.

Instead of a baby bonus there ought to be a sterilisation bonus so that people this stupid are bred out of existence.

Same here ... can't expect too much from most of them really.
If they are going to get that blind while the far pregnant ... they don't care ... and doubtful they have a job either ... just in it for the hand outs more than anything. I know a few people like it as well ... just sad really.

What car does she own.

I'm guessing it wasn't made this millennium. Probably bought it with centrelink payments.

*sigh*

:-(

You know, some people would give everything they have to bring a child into their world. Then there are others like this that truly don't deserve it (and the child doesn't deserve to be born into that sort of environment either)

You can see that this child will end up yet another statistic...
Its been proven that women who drink while pregnant cause irreversable damage to their kids development.
More then likely she will probably end up dead anyways from DUI, at 28yrs of age she should know better.

After taking a bit of time for my wife to fall pregnant ... and really doing everything you can to have a child ... it's hard .... and then you see this .... some woman can't have children at all.

All you hope for is a healthy child really ... and as Sezzy mentioned these are the ones that breed ... like rabbits.

At 17 Shannon is pregnant
As young as her Mum when she had her
The kid is never gonna have a Dad
The same old way that Shannon never had
What comes around, well it goes around

Nothing changes 'cause it's all the same
The world you get's the one you give away
It all just happens again way down the line...

The original story states she was driving and charged with exceeding PCA!

Not sure where the DUI comes into it?

No need to go for the very hard to prove DUI charge(which is based on observations made by police in the absence of any testing equipment being available) when the PCA is proven with the blood test!

Apart from that she deserves to be put down for doing this to her unborn child....

thats right cause theres no drunk pregnant chicks on the central coast

I doesnt matter weather it was in Guilford, Double Bay or the Enterence, as I'm sure simular happens in all these area's, please dont reply with the BS but it happens more in Sydneys west casue thats just media hype.

the issue is more that it happend at all even if this kid is born healthy what hope has it got if the mother would do this while shes pregnant.

I see expectant mothers smoking and I shake my head, the majority of which I am sure are good people who only want the best for their unborn child but these simple things like not smokeing or drinking are over looked. but back to this case, if this chick was .2 she had no concern for the unborn child at all its not a "arrr go on one glass of wine at a party wont hurt" type drink (that I also dont agree with) this chick was on a full on belter of a binge that would put most non pregnant binges to shame.

why does owning a car older than 11 years old make you a bad parrent? infact I would argue a parrent who hasnt got a new car but isnt up to their eyeballs in debt would be in a better position to care for their child

0.241 BAC

Thats definately NOT 1 drink an hour

More like a bottle an hour

She will get a fine, pay it of threw SPERS
Loose her licence , probably doesnt need it anyway
Baby born,perhaps another next
(Baby bonus again)
Then another, scream she wants more assistance
The cycle of life begins

And thats probably more the issue,

Now we are just generalising here and assuming shes on a full board of welfare, but the cycle you have painted does exist and thats what needs to be addressed
