Well hi.
As I'm about to sell my much loved ute, (maybe) I thought I'd collate all the receipts that have been accumulating in the "ute" file since i bought it. I guessed that the total cost of gas, and maintenance would be about the same as the original purchase price of the vehicle, ($17k) If you want to know just how much the cost of a vehicle is, slowly accumulating, have a look at the two attached spreadsheet's, you may be very surprised. also note, i have not included petrol costs (minimal because of LPG). I would guess these to be about $1000 Although your circumstances may be different, I did include speeding fines and a few other odds and ends. Bear in mind it's a 2004 tonner ute. and has been used for what it was designed, never abused, always fixed before it broke! enjoy! Last edited by lamborghinifan; 09-05-2011 at 12:35 PM. |

Interesting info, thanks for sharing.
I roughly worked out I'd spent 4.5k on various mods etc but I haven't added on service costs and fuel etc. I have done roughly 65,000k's in 2.25 years all on petrol at approx $80 a fill and I average 550 k's per tank. No fines though

I had my Clio Renaultsport 182 Cup for bout 3.5 years and did nearly 70,000 kays, and I just quickly figured out that I spent probably around $15,000 on fuel, servicing, a Milltek Sport exhaust and a CF racing Airbox/Intake, and one set of tyres (Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 225/45 16").
Would love to see how this compares to a Falcon over a similar period of time. I'd imagine (especially a 6T or a V8) the fuel would be insane. My working out is based on the Clio's average Fuel consumption of 9.5l/100km. |

My approx fuel bill is about $9.5k over the two and a bit years I have had it.
Average about 11 or so L/per 100k's.

Factoring in the rego, insurance, servicing and repairs, and fuel, it has cost me around $3,000 to run my EL for 12 months. Spending about $25-30 a week on fuel, driving 100km a week with the odd long trip every few months.
