I logged on to internet to renew my rego for the Xr8. I sort of didnt really look at the cost on the rego papers as its usually about $300 plus plates..
I log on and like a poke in the eye, $536? I started squinting and clearing my vision. Grabbed the rego papers and wham, another poke in the eye, the same $536. Motor Vehicle rego is $390 vehicle tax + $56 registration fee + $90 plates. Im sure they have snuck it up $100 from last year or maybe more. That will drop the *** end out of cheaper used cars with little rego left. With Green slip (compulsory) the cost is $1000 now minimum. My license also expired earlier this week, theres another $153 for the RTA. Another poke in the eye. |

yer $526 in VIC. No green slip but insurance of $500 brings it to over $1000 anyway.
Does a Health Care Card in Victoria get you cheaper Rego?? can anyone confirm |

I would be pretty happy if that was my bill and I own a 6 (QLD)
Date of registration 24/11/2010 Quote type Registration renewal Include CTP insurance in quote Yes Vehicle type Passenger car Purpose of use Private Type of engine Cylinders Number of cylinders/rotors 6 Concession category No Concession Pay term 12 Months CTP insurance class Cars and station wagons Input tax credits entitlement (ITCE) No CTP insurer RACQ Registration fee 428.05 Traffic improvement fee 47.15 CTP insurance premium 313.00 ======== Total fee ($) 788.20, if Paid late - $837.70 Quote:
Personalised plates here once you buy them they are yours, don't need to pay another cent. But they do range from about $395-2500.

Usually is the other way around. My Bike(Greenslip & RTA) on the otherhand, less than my BF's RTA Fee's

It's $670 for a 6 over here in S.A for country reg for 12 months and add around $150 for custom plates. and it's around $150-60 on top of that for V8 reg. But we don't have to pay for roadworthy tho

Mine is $860+ this year. But I pay $400 a year for my plates :(
Green slip is $460, which was about $200 less than I was expecting. Also had to change insurers this year, as my old insurer won't cover anyone under 30 now. So that went fom $1400+ to $700, as it was added on to our work fleet policy, and they already cover me to drive the buses.

Qld sure has it tough but I can never understand why the pricing isn't uniform Nationally. Just ridiculous. Everything in Australia seems done from State to State which causes so much confusion and makes living between States complicated. A simple National Rego & Licensing system would be common sense. Different rules in every State is not user friendly.
With the new Carbon Taxes I expect the V8 to be hammered. I am bracing myself for a monster increase in the future. :( GT

Yep, the costs keep creeping up each year...
My '03 XR6 sedan, NSW registered: $437 Rego $360 Green slip (Compulsory Third Party) $630 Comprehensive insurance (with GIO, premium $100 up on last year, agreed car value dropped $1500) $1427 Total. Guess its not too bad...... The real stinger costs are for the younger blokes that have to pay a fortune in insurance these days.

my ute was over a grand but this renewal was $999, ctp may have gone down. Just got a sedan will be interesting to see if its any cheaper than the ute. Also the cost between some of us in qld seems different, i wonder if thats rego or ctp?

Yep, paid $1017.50 for the xr8 ute about 5 months ago (yr long). Add another $49.50 if you miss by one day, God forbid! I am 25 and my history is pretty good so I have a good deal to insure. About $800 a year.
Just got out the breakdown: as of 25/09/2010 Ute 8 Cylinders Private use CTP insurance $371.00 Registration Fee $599.35 Traffic Improvement Fee $47.15 I would be interested to have a look at the breakdown from other states! And see if it is just the ctp or if us banna benders are getting jipped. Not that I cant afford the v8, I took all of this into account when I brought the girl. And a wonderfull girl she is

It's just the way it is in the end. Prices go up across the board, real estate, food, petrol, insurance, services etc etc etc. Wages also go up.
Granted, some go up more than others, and some more than CPI. Shopping around can ease the pain, but so many these days can't be bothered it seems. If you want something, be willing to pay for it. |
