Default ID Plate Challenge - Can you work it out?

Loftie's ID Plate Challenge.

Here I have an ID plate from a Ford.
This one has never been seen in public before.

Can anyone decode it... (easy enough)...

Can anyone explain / work out the significance??

April 1970 XW Falcon 500 wagon in Grecian gold with unknown motor, trans and Trim.

Where is the rest of it?? (the car)??

"Spec" means the engine and trans were specified outside of the regular options for that model.

Looks like someone ordered a custom wagon with custom interior, or maybe a motor-show special?.

Interesting...come on I wont to know more, Loftie whats the go?

Can I also ask an OT XW question? The Bill Burke XW, with its 428CJ, as the great man drove it as a company car does that mean you could legally make one as a replica without rego hassles? Just curious, would like to see the ID plate on that beast.

The good old era of being able to order whatever you could get away with. Something of a pity that those days are gone.

I'd guess that the trim is the Light Aqua used in the earlier series (interesting combo with Grecian Gold if it is).

As the SIDO number comes up with S/O only, I can't gather any more information on it so I am equally as puzzled but in that era anything was possible!

Cheers
Russ

loftie, have you called 13 Ford? Interested to know what information they could shed on it...

Definitely a unique plate that's for sure!

are you sure it says XW wagon?

ALL of the XW wagons i've ever seen (be it built in 1969 or 1970) were model code 18963...

Similar to the XW GT's that were all 18939 (even the early 1970 ones)...

For GT's:

18638 = XRGT
18838 = XTGT
18938 = XWGT
18939 = XWGTHO
18038 = XYGT - 1970
18138 = XYGT - 1971
18238 = XAGT SEDAN
18218 = XAGT HARDTOP
18338 = XBGT SEDAN
18318 = XBGT HARDTOP

For this plate;

18 = Ford Falcon "Family", the middle number is the year of design (0 = 1970, 9 = 1969 etc), the last 2 numbers are the model variant, 63 = wagon. (18 = GT coupe, 38 = GT Sedan, 39 = GTHO H1/2, 63 = wagon).

So 18063 is a 1970 Ford Falcon family model variant Wagon.... its close to cross over so either XW or XY.

JG31KT - Ford Falcon 500 Station Wagon - Build Date April 2010

This ID tag comes from the FIRST XY Falcon produced at Broadmeadows.

It was a 250ci 2V 6cy (SPEC), with a 4speed Toploader (SPEC), Grecian Gold (Y) and did come fitted with saddle trim (thought stamped as a 'H' which is an unrecorded trim code for XW/XY).

Comes from a very special vehicle... whilst very plain in specifications/options, certainly a significant car...
