Looking for tips on buying a new car - my mind is set on the new Fiesta Zetec. Girls car? Guys car? Who gives a $%#@. It's a great drive, best of the small cars.
I have only been to one dealer and they have offered full five year warranty at 21,990. I didn't even put in a counter offer or even begin to negotiate. So far I have read that I should get it down to 20,500. What should my start and end price be for the best result? Also, what can I get them to include as bargaining points? - i-pod USB + AUX cables (y cable) - fixed price servicing - illuminated gear stick - prestige paint - the extended warranty as above I'd also like to hear what anyone has to say on 3 door vs 5 door. I only took the 3 door for a spin. From what I have read on this site, there are bigger blind spots on the 5 door and the obvious one that the 3 door has the sportier body kit. Appreciate your input. |

Just read somewhere that a full tank and floor mats are also some more bargaining points...

I have just sent in an offer to a dealer for a 3 Door Zetec, Y cable, Illimuniated gear stick/scuff plates, alloy sports pedals, matts and tinting for $21k (I was told that the paint is the same across the range)
More so, I also have asked for a decent trade on my existing car...so see how i go tomorrow, they should answer me as I am ready to sign up and drive it away !

$20,500 would be an outstanding price, I reckon you're almost pushing your luck.
If they did $21,000 for a 3-door Zetec including the extended (dealer) warranty, iPod cable, mats and illuminated gear stick, you've got a very good deal in my opinion. |

Bloody hell! They wouldn't budge from $18,000 for a CL manual with no extras last year.

Seems like I will have my work cut out to bargain down on it. I guess it just boils down to what I deem most important for me in terms of what they can throw in....

I got a quote today. I asked for a full tank too. Fixed service cost is apparently $250. I haven't even attempted to bargain with them yet. This also includes a 5 year warranty.

whether you get it for $22k or $21k matters little in the long run. They're an excellent little car and a joy to drive. Find the colour and specs you want and haggle a bit, but in the end, just enjoy the car.
I actually can't remember how much we paid for ours. It was in that ballpark somewhere.

If you want to save yourself $30-40 on the alloy pedals, just get the dealer to supply them for you.. It takes 10minutes to put them on yourself and you dont need any tools!

Every car I have ever had has had a black dash. I was over it and happy to try something different , loving the red as it's not very red. It's alot more like a wine. Now I see why expencive sports cars have red trim. A touch of class.

Hi Guys,
I got a fez LX manual in vision for 18500. Picked it up on the 30th of June after waiting 3 weeks. On 1st of July Ford advertised the LX driveaway for 17,990. LMAO. I dont care. I think the price was great. Didnt trade anything, got my own finance and didnt get anything except for the car and some very good customer service I have to say. BTW does anyone know where i can get some proper fitting seat covers for the fez. Unusual headrests in the back. But over all its an awesome car. Already done over a 1000K's. Cheers. |

Facelift is a while away yet. But you're right, the Zetec is everywhere. Hopefully new auto by years end (as Ford say we should have the Thai built model by years end) will help sales even more.

I'd buy the german built fez over the thai built one anyday. One reason why I didn't consider the barina. Oh and the other reason is its ugly as all hell.
Dont really care about the Auto. Love my stick shift. But it makes more sense to have the same engines. Oh and if you're gonna spend 1K on the safety pack why not spend another 1K and get the Zetec. The salesperson offered me a Zetec Manual at 20,500 when Ford was advertising it at 21,990 driveaway. I'm sure I cculd have got him down a bit more but I was being a bit stingy with my money. LOL. Hopefully in 3 years time when I get another car the fez turbo will be out and about. LOL. Good luck guys. |
