Default E10 In The AU

Just wondering if anybody has ran any E10 fuel, and whether or not they've had any problems running it in an AU.

I've heard stories of "E10 ate my fuel lines" and various other stuff around the place, and am a bit skeptical to try it, however I want to run a tank of the United Servo's Premium 100 through my car to see how it goes.

If the AU can't handle E10 though, then I'll give it a miss and stick to the VPower/Ultimate that its used to.

I ran it for a while when petrol was pushing $2 a litre
as a shopping trolley I didnt get any difference in performance, but fuel economy was about 1L/100 worse
I put some in it the other day by mistake, I was towing a car trailer at the time, still didnt notice any performance difference and I used a tank in 300km

Having said that we are having issues with E85 in the saloon car, it eats the sock off the bottom of the fuel pump.

E10 in an AU. I wouldnt bother, price difference is eaten by fuel economy. As far as eating fuel components, I didnt have in trouble in the 6 months I was running it, about a tank a week. But I havent pulled the pump out of the tank to inspect it either..............

Yeah, I'm not quite keen on the idea of E85 without getting my car properly prepared & tuned for it.

Thanks for that, might not really be worth it then, as the E10 Premium 100 I've been thinking of running is pretty well on par pricewise with the VPower/Ultimate 98 Octane fuels.

Ive run it in both my AU's, the fairmont always got 700km to a tank on E10 95, ran 14.9 and saw great AFR's on the dyno.
In the blue car, it seems to loose me around 100km to a tank.
In my mums car, no difference again, not even to fuel economy.
The 8's Ive heard bad things about, by Ive never heard of a problem in the 6's from ethanol blend fuels.

E10 is fine for AU's.
E10 is not worth it however, it is poorer value for money than regular 91 octane.

So with 91RON being phased out by the end of 2011, what (if anything) is replacing it?

Nothing is replacing it, you either go to E10 and buy more petrol per week, or go to 95 and pay the premium price they want..

I was using the E10 for a while also, when it first came onto the market. I rang ford to ask if it could be used safely in the AU the mechanic told me that there were no issues using it.

but after awhile I stopped and went back to the ordinary unleaded as the fuel consumption was pretty bad like others have said here.

Ethanol fuel will always net poorer economy. Its just the way it is. But from I have heard if you were to get your car tuned for E10 or E85 for that matter, it will gain better results.

This is something Im looking into myself. I plan to get an E85 with BPUltimate blend style tune for my car soon. I hear good things as a 60/40 blend, but I was told, you need bigger injectors to handle the E85 and possibly bigger fuel pump to pump it. But its not uncommon to hear of 250km out of a tank of E85/BP blend if your pushing it hard.

Again, its what I have heard from those who have had their car tuned for it.

As for the E10, its supposed to be ok on a stock vehicle as an alternative.

I use 95 E10 in my Pursoot and the Beemer.
They both return slightly worse economy, in the order of 50k less, but the price difference more than offsets that.

No running problems at all with either.

We also share a AU yoot 6 pack hack with my folks which drinks nothing but E10 95 too.
And my folks AU wagon also drinks E10 95.

All run fine as if nothing has changed, except the economy.

Personally I think you'd be crazy not to use it. It's extra money in your pocket for other fun stuff.

Just make sure you use the 95 E10, as some E10 is only 91.
Shell is the one to get IMO, as it's 95.

servo up the street from my work, has just switched all their regular unleaded to E85. so if i'm gonna keep filling up there, it's that or premium.

would it run better on premium? AU2 I6, totally stock

And the truth of the matter. They can simply do as they want and we have to shut up and pay.

Sucks!
