put my ebv8 in last tues for a manual conversion. already has gt40p heads, explorer, 65mm t/b, mafless, microtech, baby cam, 3.9diff gears. manual was not really on the cards but one came up cheap. can't tell you how badly i'm hanging out for it. i told them no rush as i've been on night shift for the last 2 weeks and can get by with one car.

Some colour coding of bumpers and a general detail and tidy up (need new bonnet and might try to pick up a 2nd bootlid without spoiler).
Scrap the rattly 3.9L, fit a EL/AU engine, wade cam and chiptorque chip ive had sitting around for months.
Have rear springs reset 1-2inches lower.

My plans have changed a fair bit from what I originally had in mind for my XR.

Original Plans

1: Get GTO Rear bar sprayed & fitted. Spray rest of car at the same time.
2: Build up a show worthy boot install
3: Install Carputer, with 15" touch screen, mounted portrait style, replacing the centre of the dash.
4: Full interior retrim
5: Enjoy.

Well, that was the plan until the other night when a mate pointed me in the direction of a Twin Turbo kit.

Revised Plan

1: Forget all cosmetic improvements, replace bodykit with standard, albeit modified, bars. Also replacing chrome rims with Charcoal F6s.
2: Forget boot install, rarely have the stereo turned on as it is. Same goes for carputer for same reason.
3: Buy intercooler & intake piping locally, import Twin Turbo kit. (US$999 to my front door)
4: Bolt everything up with the assistance of copious amounts of swearing & Bundy.
5: Enjoy boosted V8 goodness.

check out the response range from jaycar. go the kevlar 6.5" splits for the front, and the kevlar 6x9s for the rear. a 4x100wrms response precision amp will be sweet(dont worry bout going the digital one). subs there are many more options. if you have a 10" hole on the parcel shelf of the sprint just make use of it and go the response 5 chanel amp. its only new out so i dont the the details but it has won a few awards already. being 5 chanel it will run 4 speakers and a sub.

good luck

ummm, finish the engine bay, put the motor back together, buy the last few little bits for the turbo conversion, hopefully get my ef fairmont ghia leather interior, get my 4 pinion lsd centre and 3.45s fitted re-kit the front bushes with nolethane as every single bush is clapped out or not there, new 20s, boot install then i think it should be ready for the wedding.

Each time I get mine serviced there is a little bit more to do - mainly small oil leaks etc. There is a little bit of rust coming through on the doglegs and some of the paint is looking a bit shabby - but it still comes up nice when polished.

I should really get around to doing the Head Gasket and at the same time finally get the Cam for it. The dash has got to come out before next summer - the evaporator is leaking so I thought i'd suffer this summer and next time I'm on holi's I'd do it then - I'm getting the bits together to do the climate control conversion but I'm not confident enough (yet) to tackle that one (two other jobs related to that will be fresh / recirc flap repair and a check of the clutch pedal pivot point)

I'll also get around to lowering her a little bit more and replace the shocks with Bilsteins - steering racks got a slight leak so that might as well get done at the same time.

- el xr interior with el gt style dash and woodgrain
- lowering

Not in that particular order tho
