Default Ba Xr/gt Fakers

Hi Folks,

I have noticed a trend in the used car lots lately here in south oz, they get a standard BA falcon ($10,000), add 18 inch rims ($2,000), a body kit ($3,000)and stripes then sell it for $19-$20,000. The giveaway is the standard BA headlights, other than that they look pretty good.
One really grabbed my attention today, so much so that I stopped and had a look. It was advertised as an XR6 with GT body kit. The shonky part is that it didn't have the XR lights, just plain BA lights which made me think that the dealer is trying one on...but the paint colour was blueprint (the reason I stopped, I am so sick of trying to keep the monsoon blue clean!).

Was this an XR only colour?

Do they do this trick interstate?

What do you guys think of the Faker BA XR/GT's?

Cheers,

Simon

On the BA series Blueprint was an XR only colour but it may have had a front end smack and theyve put the cheaper XT headlights and the GT bar on. Or the dealer doesnt know his Fords and has changed them along with the bar.

Fakers will always sell and thats why they do them - for a lot of people that's as close to an XR/GT/FPV/whatever they will ever get and it keeps them happy. I personally wouldnt buy one though, Id rather go the other way and have the power of the sports model in a non-sports looking body.

True, to some extent. But at 19k, it makes no sense. You can buy XR6Ts from 11k and NA XR6s from 9k (that's the lowest I've seen them personally).

I remember the C2R fad about 6 years ago. Some were modelled on Fairmont/Berlinas. Sold like hot cakes, but the body kits used to break not long after they were sold.

OK so because of the colour it must be an xr6 but I do agree that it is pricey. I would only get a turbo if I stepped down to a 6 as I think I would miss the power as much as the sound of the 8. Here is the link anyway:

Looks like a genuine XR6 to me, ruined by the fake body kit and wheels though.

Still overpriced by about 8 grand.

gf's friend brought a ba futura with gt bodykit 18" wheels and a fake dual exhaust tip on the left hand side for $20k. i tried to talk her out of it when she had the car over the weekend to test out, but she phoned up the week later and said she got it.
