Just wondering what the big plastic circle bit hanging off the side of the intake pipe does. thinking of getting rid of it and plugging the hole as its ugly. will this do anything to the car? its the bit between air flow sensor and throttle boddy. hangs of the side of rubber pipe

I have been told it quietens down induction noise??- dont know if this is true or not.
I have removed mine, No gains or losses as far as i can tell.

Yeah I think I read somewhere that it's a resonator to make it quiet. Did it make it any noisier? and what did you plug it with?

it is there to quieten down the intake sound, the only gain had by taking it off is it will have a bigger induction growl, has been done before

One of my mates removed his dog poo & filled the hole with a lid of a V8 juice bottle, it fits in perfectly.

Cool, I'm gonna give this a try today - anything for a bit more noise!
Is any cap that fits the hole snugly cool?

Well, gave this a shot today using some centrecap out of an aftermarket rim, but it was a touch too small, so I'll have to wait till I find a larger centrecap!
Anyone got one floating about?!

Can't say whether I've noticed a performance increase or decrease, but it definitely sounds better, and that's all that matters for this car! Here's a few pics (clearly not an AU bay, but it is an AU.com inspired "mod" so please forgive me : )

Private9... mate your not noticing any difference- cause your just sucking hot air.
You need a heat shield asap! Imao pod's suck ***. Much better to use a modified box with either a panel filter or a pod inside the box ;) |

Hey guys, I just gave this a shot and I've got to say;
Theres a noticeable difference difference in induction and exhaust noise and (unbelievably) the car feels torque-ier and nicer to drive. Either the louder induction and exhaust noise is having a placebo effect on how the car feels to me, or theres some torque to be gained from this mod. What are other peoples' experiences after having done this? |

I'm with you LeadFoot! Mine definitely sounded a bit better. Hard to say if there was any difference to power or response, but it sounds better, so I'm happy!

Just want to know, Is it better to leave the existing filter box with the air filter or the pod filter in the engine bay with hot air intake under the bonnet?
