Default well its that time of year again (rant)

judging by the ads on tv and the tinsle in the supermarkets i can easly tell that its about a month out from a very hectic time of year.

well this year is different. no we have decided not ot fall into the whole commercial christmas this year. there will be no presents under the christmas tree this year, heck, there probaly wont be a christmas tree at all.
now it is a mutal decision within the family that we wont show out love by buying poorly made products that some poor kid in a sweat shop that is earning 5c a day was forced to make at gunpoint. no m money wont be going into the pockets of the big wigs so that they can fly around in fancy helicopters and dine in the finest of the finest resturants.

this year i will celebrate christmas by having a bloody good sleepin and sharing the day off with famialy and friends. while everyone else is stressing over last minite gift ideas i will be sitting back with a ice cold brew in my hand enjoying the time off. and you know what, i bet it will be the best christams ever.

On the gifts, our family usually ask each other what we want(in a certain price range of course) so that way we're not wasting money buying random junk that we all dont want.

The whole christmas madness is bs.

Me and my parents usually do this. Just ask each other what we want and get it for them. Have a nice Christmas lunch and dinner together, spent beside the pool usually in nice tropical qld weather (peeing down rain) with a few beers, music, etc etc.

I love it!

We do the whole christmas thing .... pressies that no one knows what they are getting, chrismas dinner with both families and friends over the two days, everyone drinking eating too much, decorations, lights .... and more pressies!

Best time of the year, especially after the hectic time before and wouldnt swap it for anthing. Especially when the kids look forward to it and enjoy it so much.

Our Christmas will be very quiet this year. Not due to lack of money, just lack of family.

My paternal Grandmother passed away in May, and my maternal Grandfather will be in a nursing home/hospital awaiting a nursing home, so it will be just mum, Dad and I for most of the day.
My mother's brother and his wife will be around for dinner, and possibly a friend that has no other family in Sydney.

Mum and Dad hate each other (yet are still married and live in the same house), and I'm the youngest person in the family (25), so it's going to be quite dull this year.

Same here, they hate each other so much but i think they just can't be bothered getting divorced. Been together 25 years, I'm also youngest in the family (17).

i love christmas, i love all of the gimmicky crap, love the tree, decorations, carols, dodgy christmas movies

but most of all i love speanding time around christmas celebrating with a few drinks with mates, then on the 25th get the family together have a big lunch a few beers....... and wind down on boxing day watching the cricket.

i buy everyone in my immediate family a nice little gift.

maybe im just being corny, but christmas is my favorite time of year.

Some old spoil sports here aint there lol.

Christmas is a good bit of fun..Mum and brothers put up tree..I help put up the christmas lights. We go a bit overboard with them even have all the blow up stuff including a big 8 foot blow up santa. Sucks pulling everything down though.

2 years ago i won best decorated car. Had 25 packets of xmas light on it and a santa etc. Only bad thing was i couldnt drive car for ages and when i pulled tape off it left the sticky crap on there and took off some of my clear so had a shany car with rough blotches everywhere.

Catching up with people and having a few beers, maybe take the boats out, that is about Christmas for us. A big family picnic by the river. No huge spend on pressies or other crap, just hanging out.

What does grate though is having carolers singing through my local shopping centre - 2 weeks ago. At least save it for December!
