Default The Ford Forums

Not sure how anyone else feels about internet forums generally...I belong to a few forums on different interests I have......being music, home theatre, car detailing and this great site AFF which i joined back in April last year after a torrid marriage break up.

I gotta say after the unfortunate death of a great forum buddy to us all it really hits home how close a lot of us are on here, even though many of us have not met personally .

Most web forums have no more than 10 members online at any one time, yet AFF always has in excess of 100 logged on at any time of the day which goes to show its popularity. Crikey I've come online at 4am and there's at least 20 people on here!

The point I want to make here is that its just great how AFF has the capacity to bring so many people together with a common interest and how so many friendships can develop just by sitting in your living room at home.

Dont get me wrong, I spend more time out of my living room than being in it (although a lot would disagree...especially those women on RSVP.com who i've sent a kiss to ) but the friendships I've made on AFF are truly valuable and could never be replaced.

This week has probably been a first for a death on this site and after that experience it really hits home how close we all really are.

I think the administrators and moderators need to be thanked for the time and effort they put in for maintaining a truly A1 site.

Pete

Agreed about the mods. Some on here think that they should be allowed to post whatever they like, but it is thanks to the mods that topics that are guaranteed to cause agro (politics and religion mainly) are jumped on. They also get rid of the useless threads about fascinating topics such as what people had for breakfast. It means most of us come back because we dont get a chance to bicker openly about which politician is best (fact...they are all lying self-serving gobshites) and get slagged off by other members because our beliefs are different.

I have been here since the start and was on the old one too which lost members at a frightening rate due to political beliefs only permitted to the owner. This site is great and I am here every night.

Here Here. I love AFF. and forums in general. It's nice to belong to a community. It's been a sad week. Reading about Craig and Vanman_75's tragic loss.
In no way can compare These losses to my situation 6 months ago when I went through a relationship breakup but I was pretty down and AFF was a place I could go and let it out. It's a great community and facility. Many thanks for the people that put in time and effort.

I should think about making a donation for the site one day.

I joined Ford Forums to learn.

Only so much can be picked up from outside sources. I wanted to hear it from the mouth of the dragon, so here I have been.

It's a great forum that is generally well moderated and comments are generally good.

I would donate, but you don't want MY money :P

I think it's important that people don't take this place for granted.

I'm senior and night convenor at my tennis club, and there is work involved in ensuring that such competitions stay afloat, especially right now when some tennis clubs are struggling. Many people want to play tennis, but nobody wants to help out.

So when it comes to AFF, make sure that you appreciate what you have here. It's a good set up.

Its an awsome forum for info and general information on all Australian built Ford models,
And have met some nice people through here as well. When you have Blue Blood running through your veins- its the only place to be!!!

Thanks everybody for keeping it a fun, informative site.

I have to say the AFF is the best and most informative forum i have joined. The people on here are great and through this site i have met people i never could have dreamed of meeting. After helping James Kingdom out with his ideas he introduced me to the fellas of house of kolour and Meguiars etc. Without this forum i would have never had the oppurtunity.

Each time i get on the computer the AFF is the first page i go to to see what is going on. Competitions like the photochopping comps are great fun. Seeing people buildups are also great and lets us see the hard work, time and money people put into there pride and joys. Just generally chatting about anything is great.

Are there AFF stickers that can be purchased because i for one would be proud to put one on the back of my car.

Two thumbs up for Mods and Admins!
Great forums, wonderful people and I really appreciate the non-automotive section.

And where can we get the AFF stickers for proud members?

I'm still here even though I don't even own a Ford. This place provides me with well thought out discussion on all different sorts of topics without resulting to flame wars.

Flame wars have their place and are quite entertaining but it's good to be civilized at times too. This is the angel on my shoulder forum. The rest are way bad :

As you say never had the pleasure but maybe one day.
As for AFF many may have gripes about this or that but I just don't bother getting involved..... Value the experience from some laugh at the smart wise crack and feel for the ones in pain thanks to this site, well done site owners !

Thank you all for your too kind comments.

It must be realised however that it is the membership that makes a forum, we merely attempt to steer (yes I know, not always to full effect ). Without the many and varied knowledgeable members this place would be a mere blip on the face of the internet.

Thank you all for making it what it is.
