As Warren Buffet says "be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful"
If you have the cash now is the best time to buy, but be prepared to ride out the ups and downs for a while longer now.

I think it's fear mongering, if you tell everyone it will happen it will probably happen.

I wonder if this 'guru' has a vested interest in the stocks falling

...or am I being too paranoid? :P

he says he does have a vested interest in shares falling , he said there is money to be made . he said he was a futures investment advisor . into short selling etc . he was a cocky character , who seemed to be interested in the market and not deterred by it .

Well... I couldn't believe it. The dollar has dropped 1c per hour in the last 4 hours. When I got online tonight before dinner it was around 65c.. it is now 61c..

They just mentioned that the UK stock exchange has just had the biggest 1 day fall in history....

Wonder what Monday will bring?

Seoul is a crazy place, but you won't have any problem finding stuff as 60% of the street signs and shops are in English lol.

3000 points seems to be the consensus of how low it will go.

The markets are all built on debt. When the debt bubbles all burst, there's no telling how low it will go. The exchanges will throw the circuit breakers when it goes into freefall, suspending trading for an indeterminate period of time.

If this guru can predict this, he must be extremely rich to be able to see whats happening and especially to give a certain date! WOW, wish he was my financial adviser

Of course there is panic ......... because the stock market is so unpredictable to certain degree and there are all these gurus telling everyone that the sky has fallen! Doesnt help when g'ments try and manipulate the outcome! Throwing petrol on a lit fire!

Speaking of petrol I can't believe the leaders of OPEC have decided to cut production of crude oil, just so it forces the price back up. It's nice to see that these guys are only in it for as much money as possible.

Will go well beyond November 2008. My concern is with mid to late 2009, as usual, there will be gains and falls, sometimes deeper than the previous trading day.

America, is *not* the big problem;

This discussion from 2006 may help educate, see link below:-
Quote:
The debt is worldwide not just US. To give you some scale the twin US deficits amount to over $2 trillion. The US GDP is $12 trillion. The derivatives are $570 trillion world wide.

Most of this is overseas. The world is wash in this securitized debt. China, Germany, Europe and Japan all hold this. These are not regulated by the Central Banks including the Fed.

Liquidating the derivatives will collapse the system world wide.

The $570 trillion in derivatives can not be paid. Failure to pay will bring the bankruptcy of the world's financial system. Orange County, California went into bankruptcy in less than a year when their derivative investments went against them. The Fed had to prevent the entire nation's collapse when LTCM went the wrong way on their derivatives trades and collapsed.
And;
Quote:
Warren Buffett has stated that derivatives are weapons of financial mass destruction, due to their incredible leverage.

I wish the media would step back a bit and stop all this doom and gloom reporting

I'm currently the busiest I have ever been, booked out till Feb next year and still I get another 5-6 calls a week to get jobs done before xmas or just after. People still want to spend.

I realise that it will change next year and be quieter, but on the other hand if people are sensible and not get paranoid about this issue they still will be living on much more than bread and water
