Default Comparitive Questions

Just a few questions asking wether your AU:

-Doesnt gain speed in Drive when rolling down a decline at approx 90 km/h
-The auto drops into first at approx 5km/h just before stopping and you can feel it
-Fuel cuts out when thrown around a corner real hard (for example trying to kick the back end out)
-If your hand brake never remains tight

???

My AUII XR8 wouldn't gain speed down a hill and even slowed but this was due to a stuffed bearing. It gains speed now but depends on the incline as to how much.

I have the same sort of problem with the gearbox, I thought it was a stuffed diff so had it rebuilt but turns out to be the gearbox clunking into first. It does it when I'm rolling and as it gets to about 10k's/hr. I have since reset the ecu after putting in new plugs and o2 sensors and it rarely does it now. I noticed if I brake a little harder instead of rolling so much it's fine.

Don't have that fuel problem you're describing so can't help sorry.

My hand brake was stuffed so had that rebuilt too, seems ok now but from what I've read Ford handbrakes aren't the greatest.

our handbrakes are useless and lose tightness regularly
dont use it for drifting is another good point:P

unsure about sustaining 1 speed down hill

your auto shifts down because its good for not overheating your brakes etc

plus your going slow enough to be in 1st anyway
altho mine somtimes shifts into 1st as i accelerate.. its REALLY annoying

and the turning hard and losing fuel is normal.. i remember reading a thread about lots of people having this issue
1 solution is a surge tank
im sure there were other fixes tho

1. Don't know.
2. Yes.
3. Never noticed this with the T/C off.
4. Seems fine to me. Holds on gradients in neutral just fine, but would never trust it.

with the question of fuel running out around corners, my car only does this when i am below a 1/4 of a tank.

so if you want to have fun and kick the back out keep more than a 1/4 tank of fuel in it. its just from the position of the pickup in the tank, when you take a corner fast the petrol moves away from the pickup.

All yes except the fuel cut out EXCEPT when I was doing skidpan with not much fuel, Id spin, start going backwards with the foot still buried and it would just die. Easy fix though, I just put petrol in it.

If you want to stop the fuel issue you can turn the pump around. Worked for me.

- I lose speed from 90 Km/h on decline - is that bad??

- Only sometimes my auto drops into first at approx 5km/h just before stopping and yes, you can feel it.

- My handbrake is next to useless...

Does anyone get a semi-nasty jolt to the driveline if you shift down to 2, say at about 15 - 30 km/h? Would blipping the revs up at the same moment alleviate this problem like with a manual?
