Exclamation Royal Melbourne Show, $10k Show Bag!!

A $10,000 showbag packed with beer will go on sale at the Royal Melbourne Show this year.

Gone are the days when showbags were all about chips and chocolate for the kids with the Grand Ridge Ultimate Beer and Beef showbag aimed at the Homer Simpson of any family.

The showbag from the Mirboo North brewery, in Gippsland, includes a large fridge with fitted beer tap, 100 Grand Ridge Beer stubbies, a freezer with enough beef to fill it, as well as accommodation, restaurant coupons, and even vouchers for hairstyling products.

Geez, I'd love to see the size of the bag all that comes in.

It had wanna be some good beer and beef for that much.

For ten grand you could spend $2000 for a good Westinghouse side by side fridge and spend the rest on beer and meat, which would get you a metric assload of beer and meat.

Like every other showbag in the history of the world, it is a rip off.

The prices of the bags are getting more expencive.

Seriously it used to be about manufacturers show what they have in a bulk cheap price.
Now they sell the bacgs at close to retail, they're not worth getting.

Wrong. At the Melbourne Show, look at the showbag prices. It will list each individual item.

They quoted the price of a Mars Bar well above a supermarket's price. The prices are well above what I regard as "retail". They were milk bar prices, and we know how costly they can be.

But showbags are not worth it anymore. It is a commercial festival, like almost everything else we engage in nowadays.

I bought three bottles of Rochefort Trappist beer (6, 8 and 10) as well as a Westmalle Trappist. Cost me like 40 dollars for all four bottles, but beer like this is best enjoyed over time.

Originally all showbags were free, they were "sample" products from the manufacturer.
