You mean as in an IQ higher than 25? That seems to be about the average.
Seriously though. I think we need to make them pass an advanced driver and actually have to PROVE that they are COMPETENT drivers before giving them a license. I think they should also make that as a prerequiste before allowing existing drivers to renew their licenses. How relevent is a 3-point turn and reverse park to actually showing that you are a competent driver? |

If half the people on this forum had to take a spelling test they wouldn't pass, god knows about an IQ test. :

So, you're saying everyone on their P's, or on L's and getting their P's, are all absolutely useless? See its always the 5 who ruin it and make us all look bad. Every P plater ive seen can control the car and indicate, alot more than I can say for women in 4wd's and old people. Im sure all the crap we have to do now is HEAPS more than all the 30+ year olds in here ever had to do.
Edit, Obviousely not ALL women in 4wds and ALL old people cant drive, just like not ALL P platers are tossers! |

Should AFF members have to pass an IQ test to start a thread?

No, IQ does not directly correlate with driving safety. My brother has a very high IQ (somewhere around 150), but he is an absolute shocker on the road - completely inattentive. My sister in law on the other hand has an acquired brain injury (from an MVA) and had an IQ that is considerably lower than average, but she is an extremely attentive and safe driver. i know which one i prefer to drive me around.

I think everyone needs to spend a lot less time worrying about the driving skills of others and worry about their own driving.
These threads are full of suck and result in arguements. If you don't like the way someone drives, and it's not effecting you in anyway whatsoever, then turn the other way. Get over it. Don't stereotype drivers, there are bad drivers in all age/license groups. Get on with your own life and stop whinging. FFS.

I work next door to an RTA and sit outside on my breaks and watch the driver tests being conducted (I love a cheap laugh), and it's not the kids who scare me, its the over 85's being retested....
