Default My Ghia has Turned Up in Adelaide

So, I traded my 2000 AUII Ghia on a BF a couple of months ago at Cumberland Ford, Blacktown, (just out of Sydney).

And now it's turned up for sale at Motorwell in Adelaide!!

If anybody here buys it can they let me know? I'd be interested to see what becomes of the old girl.

Abacus' old AU Ghia

At least they got it moving! I sold a car a few years back, and a year later it was still sitting at the same dealership!

I wouldn't be surprised if they try and sell it for at least $4000 more than you sold it for, I went there when I was looking to buy my car... never again!
They did say that they bought majority of their cars form Sydney/Melb, I guess this is proof
Nice car though

They are asking $11,999 for it, so I guess they would take $11,000.

I traded it for a bit less than that. I don't know what it wholesaled for, or how many wholesalers its passed through between then and now. When I traded it the car had a bad miss that nobody could pin down, and it needed a a few odds and ends fixed, some upholstery work, that kind of thing.

So I'm guessing somebody has spent some money on it between then and now. That would also explain the time delay between my disposal and its breaking cover now. Even at trade prices there would have been a few dollars spent to make it suitable for retail.

$11k retail, with the various issues fixed, is more than I would have been asking for but it might not be too far out of the ballpark, particularly if dealers are required to provide a used car warranty in SA.

It's got a few desirable things in it, like the SVI gas injection, BA XR wheels, near-new Michelin Preceda PP2s, XR8 220 headers and dual exhaust system, and so forth. The tranny was reconditioned 20,000km ago.

The main drawback with the car is lots of paint (from having lots of small dents fixed) and general wear and tear. The car was always a workhorse, not a show pony.

$12k about right for that type of car in good nick.
I wouldn't be surprised if those odds and ends hadn't been fixed, I looked at a LTD there and parts where just hanging on inside the car and they wanted $17k for it!
But you never know.
Must be good to see that your old car is at least still running I wouldn't like to see my old car right now

I inspected that car as soon as motorwell got it, they were detailing it at the time.

I didn't go any further with it becuase of the rust, ended up getting a Fairlane.

What rust?

News to me!

Now I'm really glad I sold it!!

[Edit] The car had lots of paint on it from having dents knocked out from time, R/H rear quarter was replaced after I scraped it along gate post a couple of years ago & creased it, it had a couple of door skins (can't remember which ones - both left ones I think), both bumpers were repaired/replaced/resprayed at least a couple of times, but it never had rust cut out.

I think he was referring to the LTD he was mentioning!

Sorry to say I'm refering to the white AU,
I inspected it at Motorwell and there was rust under the bonnet near the gas struts and also the same area in the boot. Bubbles were clearly visible.

The engine bay was pretty filthy too. A real shame becuase it was the exact model I was after.

Someone has mistreated this car in the time between leaving your hands and arriving in Adelaide.

Oh and the car also had NSW plates on it when i inspected it

Well like I said, I'm glad I sold it then!!

FWIW the boot lid was a new one fitted in August 2006. It went on at the same time as the rear bumper. ( I'd backed it into a pole).

Then again, when I got rid of it there wasn't a wing on the boot either, so I'm wondering if it's the same boot lid.

Either way, it doesn't look like they've put too much effort into getting it ready for sale!
