Hey guys, im buying a ford fiesta lx next week and wanted to ask 2 main
questions. 1.) Are there any differences between the lx and zetec besides sports suspension, abs, front fog light, rims, interior style? Like any performance differences? 2.) What are the biggest size rims i can put on a fiesta lx without altering the body of the car? 16's? 17's? 18's? I mainly need it to go to uni and work, and ive heard some good things about the fiesta's. Thanks for your help. Last edited by GZTX3; 15-06-2008 at 09:21 PM. |

Zetec has shorter gear ratios, so you'll get to 100 marginally quicker.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 18"s for the sake of the ride, especially on the Zetec. They're quite stiff which isn't bad in its own right but the lower profile tyres could make the ride more brittle.
The Zetec has the shortest gearing of the whole Fiesta range meaning it would be quicker off of the line compared to the LX. The XR4 uses the Zetec gearbox but a taller diff to make good use of the extra power and help with fuel consumption. (Hmm, Zetec diff in an XR4...)

In theory the Zetec would be sliiiightly faster... but that can easily be balanced with skill.

Slight shorter gearing in the zetec is there because of the 16" alloys compared to the 15" steelies in the LX. Overall they are geared pretty much within a bee's doodle of each other
