Default Tickford Lock Nut key (Brisbane)

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone in Brisbane has a Tickford lock nut key that I could perhaps borrow. I want to rotate my tyres but I can't find my own key. I only need it for five minutes as I will be replacing the nuts with normal ones.

That is assuming all keys are the same.

(Waits for someone to tell me they aren't)

cheers,

Daniel

They aren't.

But, they can all be removed with a 22mm socket (and a hammer). Just dont expect to be able to use them again (the locknut or the socket)

You need to find the number of the key and then go to a ford dealer and order a new one, though its a bit hard if you havent got your key!

Looks like you will need a new set of locknuts.

Yeah not going to worry about the locknuts once I get them off, new Ford wheel nuts are only four bucks each.

Ford looked at me blankly when I asked for a copy of my locknut. I hadn't lost it, the teeth had just broken.

Yeah the locknuts are a pain in the rear. I'd rather have someone steal my rims than be stuck on the side of the road with no way to get the wheels off.

Galpro Engineering - 08 8349 5422

These guys sell the lock nut keys but you obviously need to know the code. They are about $20 each. These guys are in Adelaide and they will post them out for you.

Mine hasn't broken yet but I have noticed it is splitting on the side off it, I take it when I had my tyres replaced they used a air gun and this might have caused the problem.
But I think I need to get a new one before it does crack in half when I'm trying to use it on the side of the road.

Last time i bought one from a ford dealer it cost me $25.
If you keep an eye out on ebay they do come up for sale.
Bayford parts do sell them on ebay, $46 per set new + postage, though they are ford ones, not tickford (they are identical though).

Not 100% on this but is there only 8 different lock nut key, had to get mine off once and got sent to someone who apparently had the full set, and he had 8? At which makes em a joke to any real car wheel thief.

Well finally got them off after twisting the odd adaptor piece and breaking a few ratchets.
