Our three utes, the Falcon, and the two rangers, add up to the amount of Hiluxes sold, and thats impresive.

Fiesta and Focus need to do better, they deserve better than what they're selling.
I am staggered as to why so many Corollas are being bought, I understand most would be fleet but still. I guess Toyota can give fleet discounts like no other.

In reallity the Aurion/Camry twins are the biggest selling car in Australia this month. At the end of the day, they are the same car with different motors/gearboxes, the same as Commodores and Falcons in there respective sales totals.

I was looking at this

http://fordforums.com.au/pub_images/SUV%2008%2001.gif

And add in the new model Kluger sales, and the introduction of the Mazda CX9, together with no model replacement of the Territory for at least a couple of years then I don't see the Territory being able to hold its ground any longer than the next 12 months.

I'm worried that the Aurion was only a few units behind the Falcon!

Commodore sales are shocking! Are they due for a model upgrade soon??

I am simply shocked that so many people buy Toyotas! Do people actually look at the price and specs of cars or do they blindly walk into a Toyota dealer with a blank check??

Hopefully the FG will thump Toyota but I think something scarier will happen. I think Falcon sales will simply eat into Commodore sales meaning 2008 Corolla will be the best selling car.....

We really are a dumb country......

About 800 units short on that mark Josh.

Hilux - 3529
Ford Utes (Falcon, Ranger 4x2, Ranger 4x4) - 2723

Damn shame to see Mondeo (356) floundering a little, still having supply problems?

nice to see some Cabriolet being sold and more than the Astra convertible which has been on the market for a longer time.

Also good to see Mondeo sales fairly consistent but would like to see more being sold.

Pretty sure the Mazda 3 has the greatest amount of private sales of any car, unlike the Corolla which is 80% fleet.

Signed the dotted line on a car today.

Ford lost a sale. Just didn't want to budge on any sort of deal. Trading in an XR8 and the best I could get was 12k (I hate trying to sell privately, such a pain in the kyber dealing with tyre kickers). Was looking at the XR5T Focus so trade compounded with the fact that it didn't have cruise control was a killer for me.

Evaluated;

The Mazda3 MPS, too crazy having so much power going through the front wheels and trying to tame it by not allowing you to get the power down when you want it. I also didn't like the rear end that much.

The Mazda6 MPS, not a bad car actually, if the boffins drew a few more go fast bits on the blueprints I probably would have gotten it. Looked a little bland from the outside.

The Impreza WRX, not bad on the road but the styling. I don't know what went wrong there.

Ended up on an R32 Golf. This thing goes like stink, makes a horn noise doing it, 4WD, and by far the best box I have ever driven. $9000 discount on new (fleet discount, Ford was offering 3k discount) and 6k more for my XR8 than Ford offered.

I tried hard to buy Ford, I really did. I had even put in for a quote for aftermarket cruise control but at the end of the day, Ford offered the worst trade in deal... ON THEIR OWN MODEL of all the dealers I went to.

Most likely because they already have a whole bunch of them out in the lot they are trying to sell.

Of the dealers I went to, there were no XR8's in their used yard. I'm sure they could have wholesaled them elsewhere if they considered it a problem to move on their yard. Volkswagen dealer spent 20 seconds looking over the car and gave me a very fair price on it.

If Ford want repeat business then they have to expect traded vehicles. Isn't the goal of sales repeat business?

Yeah I really don't think the large car sales are going to get any better, its quite a lot likely their going to get much worse. Ford is hoping the FG will somehow re-ignite the slow decline in sales with some sort of lazarus rising, and I don't think they will be as succcessful as what they hope.

I think it will revert back to the kind of figures that the BF model acheived over the first few months, then probably slip back to a pretty constant 2,400-3,100 mark, with at least 85% fleet purchasing.

Too many ex-falcon owners have left the brand with a sour taste, the European and Japanese cars continue to get better and more popular than what they were a decade ago. People who have downsized are most likely not to bounce back and upsize again.

And then there is Territory, which was generally a well designed car, but if it's update is getting ignored for a period of time then it will really struggle, not to mention the Mazda CX9 with the modular V6 is very, very close to what any territory after 2010 will be running with.

Prove me wrong ford.
