Just picked up a brocure on the way through the store, thought i'd give them a go for a 'hassle free quote'
well if you have a modified car, don't bother. exhaust, don't bother engine mods, don't bother aftermarket subwoofer, don't bother. everything apart from stock is a dead end 'we can't touch you' response. I find it bizzare that a store like supercheap would be adopting such a hitler style extremely low risk car insurance agency! : |

Yeah I found the same and I agree it's strange they have decided to take that approach. I did the online quote and it wouldnt give me one as I ticked towbar or something equally trivial

thats what i said.. i had a go at them and turns out they're not supercheap car insureance at all... just another smaller company money grab by persuading a big company to put their name to it.
are just cars seriously the only company that'll insure my p-plate highly modded BA XR6 ***? |

Considering Supercheap's policies are underwritten by the same company that does Budget Direct, Insurers Hotline, etc, etc, you would have known you had no chance with them... Stock as a rock only!
But, the policies are cheap as because of it, so it sticks with the Supercheap mantra! |

yep, they are a joke,
they would not isure me, a driver with a cleen record, a stright BA 6cyl, i have never made a claim at all and i drive a E-GAS the reason? the rims and the bodykit have been changed on my car.. if you are under 25, and have changed anything, then your *** is un-insurable by them howver, with nrma. its good price..... my exhaust, my rims, bodykit, soundsystem are all on the insurance and they dont care and my policy went DOWN last time i asked about it

try shannons mate im 22 with a mild 5ltr Vl calais with 3.45 LSD stage 2 shift kit, 2800 stall, big cam eldelbrock intake, 2 1/2 inch system, pacemakers, lowered window tint etc etc and am insured for 10 grand rating one for life, 400 dollar excess. Premium is $1000 a year for full comp fire and theft (500 for me since my fiance works at thier sister company APIA ) they said to me the more the mods the better as the car will be insured for more value and they actually do know what car enthusiasts are like. I saw all them ads and thought "yeah whatever" but since actually dealing with them i wouldnt insure my car with any one else. Best thing about it was they didnt even look at the car to come to an agreed value (dont try lie though as if they find out your car does not have the mods when it comes accident time they'll laugh in your face instead of give money"

Shannons? Dont they have a policy not to insure anyone under 30? or has that recently changed?
See also, CGU for nice cheap premiums. Dont know about highly modded rides, but a few mods here and there didnt affect my premium.

nope, shannons want 5 years driving experience, wether it be before or after L's, and a defensive driving course would have helped too.

They are the worst when it comes to claims, as they will need you to get a copy of your license statement from the RTA. They will see if you have had any demerit points or fines during that time if you have they will knock back your claim. They are cheap and nasty. |

Generally Shannons want all drivers to be over 25 (if the vehicle is fairly new and expensive). If under 25 they are looking for the under 25 to have done a defensive driving course. Premiums skyrocket when an under 25 is listed as driving a performance vehicle.
I didn't find Shannons competitive for my BF MkII GT. Even limited use (drive less than 2-3 times a week only) premium was only a $100 less than GIO premium for full daily use. |

Yeah I just changed to NRMA, Im 24 and my XR6T is only $1,400 for full comp. Its only had an edit/tune so I didnt bother telling them about that.
I was with JustCar and paid $2,200 upfront when I bought the car earlier this year, had 3 months left of the policy when I cancelled it, the cheque they gave me paid for rego

My first car was an XW,I got it when I was 18 and it was insured with shannons,I had only been driving for a year when I bought it. I swear half these insurance companys have a differant policy for every person who applies for cover. |

Preferred AAMI's online system and the fact I could have a high excess and avoid a high annual premium. If prang not my fault, no excess (in fact nothing) to pay. If it is, I'm no further behind than paying a low excess high premium policy (like GIO or NRMA). |

Hey shannons is great I am 24 with some fines and they where the only ones who would fully insure my AU XR6 vct manual, with a lot of mods for a specific agreed value, and my 96 LTd V8 and 71 Xy. All 3 are fully insured for agreed values and it costs $1400 a year($147 a month). racq would not insure the LTD because of wheels and stereo. I'd deal with shannons any day, you can have a chat and they know what you are actually talking about.

I'm loving my insurance at the moment, $250 a year, full comp for a 18 year old driving a modded XR6.
Gotta love Dads fleet policy through work |

Even if I am at fault the agreed value that includes the exhaust is more than I owe on my car so if I crash at my fault I can pay off my loan and have enough money left over to buy an EL or something. Only problem is the 2 mod limit which means I'm at a brick wall at the moment after I put on my exhaust and extractors. Am I the only one who things it is funny the level of insurance knowledge by young people on this forum??? Most Holden mates I have aren't even quite sure what insurance is so don't have any lol |
