Default Home Purchase Stamp Duty in QLD

Guys,

Has anyone purchase an owner occupier home in Qld lately? Is there a stamp duty that is applicable, like $10k on a purchase on $500k?

I am NOT a first time home buyer, and last time I bought, which was 5 years ago there was no such thing.

Feedback welcomed.

Been looking into purchasing a second place myself abit lately, so I have a few pages bookmarked, I think this is the table applicable to you

Purchase of a residence and intend to make it your home. (no first home buyer concsessions)

Purchase price / valueDuty
Up to $320,000 $1.00 per $100 or part of $100
$320,001 to $500,000 $3,200 + $3.50 per $100 or part of $100 over $320,000
$500,001 to $700,000 $9,500 + $4.00 per $100 or part of $100 over $500,000
More than $700,000 $17,500 + $4.50 per $100 or part of $100 over $700,000

I am no expert by any means but it may help

This will help,

Navigate to stamp duty calculator and your answer for any pruchase price will be there.

BTW $500K property, stamp duty will be $9500.

It may not be a very wise time to be purchasing residential property following the steady rise since the early 90's there is likely to be either a bust or stagnant prices for the next decade.

We are selling and buying in the same market... so I'm not too worried about the market.

So according to that website, $9,500 is the stamp duty (which is what I suspected). When the hell did this stamp duty come into play?

Also Tibbo, where did you get your table of info? It seems different to what I'm finding...?

It came into play when the state Labour governments renigged on a promise to the federal Liberal government to drop stamp duties and accept GST.
They now get both and have never had such income to waste .. er spend.
