Default Chev impala's!

Hi guys.

Today i'd like to ask if anyone here has owned a Chevy Impala before..... pref around the 1967/68 model.

Did ya import it? how much did it cost? share your impala experience/photos if any!!!

Hopefully one day one of those impalas will be mine!

Yep, owned a '68 Impala SS coupe (and a '68 Pontiac Safari wagon; Canadian RHD import .. 327 Chev and PG). The SS was imported new from a California dealer by a Melbourne dealer (can't remember who?) and converted locally, It used that horrible LHD steering box on RH side technique - ie. cut the chassis rail and fit the steering box inside a metal box built around the rail. Quite strong, but nasty looking. They converted the American dash (different to the Aussie model). It was basically a very original car aside from a two-pack respray. It was original 275HP 327 and PowerGlide, but had the optional 4-spot discs fitted. A really nice car which I stupidly sold 'cos I got bored with it (idiot!!!). I didn't want to mess with it, so I sold it .... to a guy who cut the frame fitted tubs, rollbar, etc :(

I've seen imported '68 coupes in good nick for about $20K (I sold mine for $14K in 2002?)

One thing is that Chevs ride like HQ Holdens; they wallow all over the place regardless of basically what you do. A standard Dodge Phoenix with torsion bars and leaf springs out handles a full sized Chev any day ..

How much you want to spend tim2x? Their is a ripper one on car sales a 65 4 door, 454 big block chev, has mags, stero, custom interior. Advertised price is $36,000.

Their was a 2 door i think same as the one posted above on their for like 2 weeks max. It had house of kolours paint job, hydrolics, 20" wires, custom leather interior. Wanted 27k

I drove the current front wheel drive impala in the states last year and I know how the captain of the Pasha Bulker felt.

A couple of my mates had them, I think they were all Fisher?? ones they bought locally at the time (5 to 10 years ago) they were worth bugger all they were just a big old car but I wouldn't be surprised if they're more now every other old car seems to be a "classic" now.

I had a 1967 327 pilarless for a while, sold it to a mate who put a 454 in it.
Great cruiser, but a bit of a barge as you would imagine.

I always wanted a 1962-63 409, just like Norm Beecheys

Chevy Impalas are badass. Apart from the poxy late model front wheel drive ones.

I've always been quite partial to the mid 90's Impalas with the LT1 and pimped out to the max.

Uncle has a small block fisher body impala. Not my kind of car but for what it is its nice. Last time I talked to him he was thinking about offloading it so he can work on another project.

There's also a very sad example two doors down from my sister. Terminally rusted and buried deep within a feral vine.
