Default Dif troubles

while i had my car jacked up yesterday fitting a fuel filter i decided to see if one wheel will spin while the other was on the ground because i thought i might have shagged my diff last thursday at willowbank. now today i've got the car jacked up with both wheels off the ground. in neutral i can spn either wheel with out the other side spinning providing i jam a brick under the wheel i am not trying to spin so it cant move. if i put the car in first gear i cant spin either wheel in any direction. is this normal for an lsd? i find it unusual that one wheel will spin with out the other in neutral. its got me confused any help would be appreciated.

In neutral with an LSD you should not be able to spin 1 wheel without the other moving in the same direction. So with both rear wheels off the ground the opposite wheel will spin the same direction as the wheel you are turning. If its not LSD the opposite wheel usually turns in the opposite direction.
If one wheel is on the ground then you wont be able to freely spin an LSD at all but you will be able to turn a SS.

If its in gear you wont spin anything... you would have to turn hard enough to get the motor to turn over to make it move.
