I would say 'it never cease to amaze me' but i am no longer amazed by what people will stoop to...

Unfortunately with death comes the fact that there will no longer be more signatures by the one that has passed on. This puts a definative cap on the market and people who were hoping to one day get something signed by their hero will have to pay some sod, purposefully attempting to cash in, to have an item of sentimental value.

We live in a sad sad world.

Oh well - if this is the worst thing that happens to the memory of Brock this week then it's a good week.

Some radio shock jocks are apparently calling Brock a wife/partner basher according to this story here titled "Brock not so perfect":http://blogs.news.com.au/news/crime/...ot_so_perfect/

Well, If he was, he would have been caught and been convicted. Never ever believe any news when it comes to the automotive or celebrity world, its all spun.

I have some Brock collectables, and since the great man's passing, I would never entertain the thought of selling them. They were too valuable to me before, ever more so now.

If you are a true motorsport fan who queued to get his signature in the first place, you would not dream of parting with it.

This guy is an absolute a---hole

One Guy was "eBaying" a VERY rare Peter Brock Signed T-shirt.$3,000 . The next item was a Peter Brock signed T-Shirt , $500

Another advertised a Very Rare Peter Brock Signed Baseball Cap $1,500 . How many of those are listed ? ? ? Heaps

You have got to be kidding , some people are going to "own" some very expensive , run of the mill items , when the Hysteria dies down...(shirts,caps,glovebox lids, posters & anything you could write on) I've got 4-5 posters Peter signed when he met my wife at work (earlier post) I won't be selling them , they were signed for US....

Don Bradman was the same as Brocky , quite happy to sign anything for any fan , so I don't think there is any "really rare items" if there is wouldn't you keep them ...

I find some people must think different than me. Im my autograph book of got a sig. from David Hookes upon his death it made that sig. more special. I never though hey ill put this on ebay & make a quid. (Not that I have a problem with people selling memoribilia of people past on present on ebay or the like) Its just one of the special crickert's sigs. I have in that book. (Even more so in his passing).

I see heaps of Gary Ablett fake signatures but nobody cares about that...

Fact is that where people can make money dishonestly, they will!

Keep your eyes peeled comrades. The enemy is everpresent!

Why is the signature worth that much? Demand and supply! People are responding to the death of a motor sport and sportig legend of Australia. There are only so many *officially* signed Peter Brock items and over time they will inevitably disappear due to breakage, loss, burglary as well as house fires. It's called *investment* (although investing at THIS stage is the WORST time as the price has peaked!).

I collect AFL stuff NOT for money, but for memories. And the fact that people try to make dishonest money out of all merchandise is sickening.

I don't get it.....there is heaps of stuff around...he used to sign everything.

The ultimate Brock collectable is a Brock VK or something like that. Price of those probably just jumped 10k.

Derryn Hinch and others jumping on a bandwagon saying Peter wasn't so perfect should move onto some real journalism - its easy to knock the dead - they won't call in and defend themselves. Hinch did the same to Hooksey. He's a predictable journalistic grub.

I was just looking at eBay , prices are taking a "nose dive" and no bids on quite a lot of items , Think the Hysteria is cooling off....

I heard of one guy bought quite a lot of stuff early to make a "quick buck" now he's only been able to sell 25% of his listing , some at a loss , very expensive punt ....he thought he'd bought "rare stuff" next thing there was heaps of it.

Thats right. They should keep the job of making a quick buck through shoddy marketing endorsements and outright scams to those with the skills and experience to do it properly.

Its half true, my mum's friend went out with Phil Brock in the 70's and he was abusive, but that had nothing to do with the guy who got his bum in the seat of a racecar..
