Getting it engineered in Vic is a major pain in the **** and fairly expensive.
You need to prove that the car meets ADR 27 before seeing an engineer. This involves an emission test costing upwards of $2000 pass or fail. Its a big restriction for most people. I wasnt prepared to risk losing that much money if I failed when I owned my turbo AU. As this was the case the car wasn't legal and I couldnt get insurance so I had to sell.

would it be possible to register in NSW then get ADR passed in their cheaper establishments then get it RE rego'd in VIC?
just get a mate to do it etc even for a week and just refund ur old rego.. good fun i spose id like to turbo my fairlane but it seems a bit of a hit and miss affair if ur gonna kill stuff in the engine or not running even 5psi.. and i cant afford gearboxes and CV joints and diffs and new engines..

That red AU XR6 Turbo that was at Joes's was making a conservative 760-odd Nm of torque at the rear wheels at around 2200rpm ... after a quick tune ... still needed more tuning.

That $2000 isnt for the engineers certificate. That is just for the emissions test. After you pass the test you can see an engineer and pay the seperate engineers fees.

I talked to a reputable workshop about getting a turbo and they said that it is registerable on petrol provided the engine is the same capacity. They told me 9 k for a massive turbo and be eating most modded ba xr6t's for breakfast

marty off the forums, silverxr, has a turbo AU XR6 ute....
one of the best turbo cars i have ever sat my bum in.. has alot to say about the old ford donk, but it was well engineered, tuned perfectly, under 2000 you wouldnt even know its turbo, above that of course, and all those juicy newton metres come flying.. a well set up, turbo'd au is up there with one of my fav cars... of course i bought a turbo etc etc, when i had my au 4L ute, but ive since got rid of it, and now have 2 more cylinders and a much nicer ute.. so if anyoen wants a reasonably big turbo, 42mm wastegate or turbo timer, all new, pm me... but turbo au's are awesome if done right |
