Default what extractors???

i was planning on buying a set of extractors for the EL 4.0 but ive booked a holiday down the snow at the end of july, so i was wantin to look at gettin them when i get back, ive heard the pacemakers are the best but when i looked at them there were the normal type and comp ones...what are the difference of these two and is it worth the extra? And if anyone wants to comment on what type they have and rate em for us that would be sweet

cheers

I've got 4499's which are the normal pacemaker extractors, as well as a 2.5" cat back system and havent noticed much of a change in power or fuel economy at all. Maybe results would have shown if i had the car dyno'd before and after the extractors and exhaust.

I prefer Hi-teck Race series Extractors over Paceys for some reason, Feels as though they breath alot smoother

i noticed a big bottom and top end increase when i fitted my HM tuned extractors and higflow cat with a manta 2.5 in hiflow exhaust, but i have heard the a lukey catback is better than manta, gotta love my extractors though well worth the extra money

My first extractors were lukeys. Let me say they are in contention to sounding the best, but by no means are the best power wise. They seemed to sluggish everywhere.

I have a set of Genie extractors i use for when the turbo is off, and they are bloody awesome. With just a high stall, 3.08 diff and extractors and 3 inch exhaust, through an AU motor(stock) i keep up with a cammed 5L combodore running a flat 15. Says a bit about there power increases. They are a very similar design to pacemaker. But they do have subtle differences obviously.

Id go pacies, but 2nd hand genies would be the way to go ;)

Selling the genies btw. if anyones interested.

well...yeah...i do like telling people what to do heheh :P seriously, I think they are the best looking design (not the prettiest, i mean the ones that look like they should work the best) also, OED666 just did a 14.2 the other day with a set of them on, and there is more in that car, with its new clutch and as soon as he gets the dodgy welds behind the cat fixed and it should liberate a few more HP and maybe even go 14.00, given enough grip...

I had the early design JMM extractors when my car was NA, did 14.5 on them but that was with 1.9sec 60ft - lotsa grip on launch If i were to build another NA car i would get the pacies and get the cat set back as far as possible from the extractor flange, to give them as much help as possible scavengine the spent gasses.

Pacemaker comps or JMM are rated as the best headers but expensive !! I am running a set of Genies at the moment & rate them highly. I bought them off a mate nearly brand new for SFA. Genie have been around for a long time with many Bathurst wins & are mandrel bend not press bend such as Advance, Lukeys & the other cheapies. Interesting though Lukey exhausts are sensational.

I have Genies if I could get my money back I would, I just dont feel the increase in power if any is worth the money spent. Better off buying a box of octane booster for the $370.
