Default EA-ED bonnet clearance VS EL XR?

A mate and I got to discussing the room under the engine bays of both an EL XR6 and an EB.

Is the bonnet height the same on both? Does the EL have more clearance? If it does how much more?

Cheers
Dan

What are you up to?

Easiest way to check is to just put the BA motor in and see if the bonnet closes.

Why would I want to do that?

Seriously though, does anyone know if there is heaps less clearance than an EL?

I cant do that, its a theoretical situation.

I had a bet with a mate that it wouldn't fit, he reckons it would.

Yep.

I just need to know how much further if any a BA motor would stick out of the bonnet of an EB compared to say JETXR.

Jet XR should have used a Fairmont bonnet for 2 reasons.

(1) It may have hidden the engine
(2) It looks way better than XR front ;)

How bout measuring the height differences between the two I6s, then adding the BA's extra height to the EB donk by means of cardboard layers or similar. (Make sure cardboard is well attached to top of rocker cover)

Shut the bonnet, start car & give some revs, then turn off & pop the bonnet.

If the cardboard crushes, you'll have clearance issues
