Just getting right back to the beginning of this thread, Sednwol,I think you may be confused as to what the Tickford-Ford relationship is.

All AU XRs have Tickford rims as standard but depending upon model, could be 16s or 17s. Prior to BA, all XRs were built at Ford then sent to Tickford for finishing. ie: Wheels, body kits, suspension, engine mods for V8s etc.
As far as I can recall, only the XR6 HP 16" wheel may have been available as an option on non Tickford built vehicles.
Casper may be able to shed some more light on this.

Ford "factory" rims from this era would be SR/Futura/Fairmont 16" alloy rims or 17" from certain Ghias.

As Bucky stated, Wheel King has a good range of various Tickford wheel and tyre packages.
Check out their web site for descriptions and pics of the different styles.

Spot on. Although the I6's also got the Tickford treatment too. Both the HP and VCT were Tickfor enhanced, hence the red rocker covers. This ended with the BA I6's though.

I can say that thier were some "Tickford enhanced" Fairmonts that were not true Tickfords but did have the option to have the AU1 17" Tickford rims and Tickford suspension/bodykits. Only the Fairmont Ghia's got the Tickford VCT engines though. Not sure about AU2/3 with rims however the VCT was standart across all AU Ghia's.

AU1 factory rims were actually 15". At this point the "basic" Tickford XR rims was a 16" (first with cloverleaf and then "buzzsaw" designes) and the option of a 17" rim. The AU1 XR8 then went to 17" standard rims with the introduction of the Buzzsaw design while the XR6's stayed with 17" rims as an option. When the AU2 went to standard 16" rims for all models (except some utes) the 17" rim bacame the standard XR rim on all model.

IMHO the 16" buzz saw rims aren't really a Tickford item as they were also fitted to the S and the XLS models, despite the fact they did feature throughout the life of the later build AUI thru to the AUIII XR6 HP's as the base wheel package. Anything that was specifically fitted over at Tickford is listed on a plaque in the engine bay located nearby the ABS thingy.

The AUII/III's Fairmonts had the corresponding skirts and wheels of their AUII XR brethren if optioned that way.

The AUII XR6 VCT was initally standard with the 16" rims but eventually became standard with the AUII XR 17" rims from the Late Edition update onwards, and should be listed in the engine bay accordingly.

Although I could be wrong on all this, so I place my disclaimer here. :P

my old boy bought a brand new AU2 fairmont ghia I6, back when they were new, with the 17" tickford 5 spokes, momo wheel and spoiler kit, all factory fitted with the tickford plate under the bonnet. They didnt all come out on XR's, some fairmonts had the 5 spoke wheels on them as well.

Picked up the new rims today, stood them next to the old ones. What a big difference, heaps more shine and no scratches!.
Just have to save some $ for some nice decent tyres.

I think i'll have to pop down to this Berwick market.

Although, I do prefer the moulded mats i have already. I want to get something really nice & custom though.

"XR" I'm pretty sure, Tickford I don't know.
Wondering if you could get an embroided logo or have a cloth badge made???
