Ignore me
The centre face basically un clips, you need to get you fingers behind it and pull Cannot remember the number of clips, but a painful exercise it is.

There is an article on aufalcon.com, of how to do it. But it seems it's all been removed?

i need to do this aswell, as the previous owner of my au had an aftermarket hands free kit, now there are just three screw holes next to the little didgital clock on the top of the centre stack. Does anyone know how much these go for?

Ok - pull out the ashtray (it just slides out), in underneath where the ashtray sits are two phillips head screws undo them. Use the ends of a coathanger to undo the factory headunit and pull it out if you still have one!!
In behind where the factory headunit sits is another two screws, undo them, then the rest of the facia is just held in by clips - pull the facia from the bottom out slowly because you cant buy the clips separate and a new facia is 120 bucks. Edit- Make sure you pay close attention to how the air con switches etc are plugged in so u put em back in right. |

Be careful of taking the clips out of the surrond as i've buggered a few taking mine on and off. Also they cost $4 each to replace from ford.

[QUOTE=rayner22....................
Edit- Make sure you pay close attention to how the air con switches etc are plugged in so u put em back in right.[/QUOTE] you could also leave all the air con switches hanging by unscrewing it from the fascia once its unclipped, but still leave the plugs all pluged in. theres 5 screws holding the switchpannel to the facia, 2 on each side and one at the bottom center , just unscrew it from begind I couldnt be bothered writing down where all the plugs went so rather than risk my scattered memory, just left it hanging,........... the clips do break easily if u decide to go with the 'rip it out now - sort it out later' approach tho. |

once you've managed to take the stereo out its at piece of cake after that
just got clips you need flat screw driver ....... pull the facia out from the top ... then push the clips down with the screw driver .... un plug the the wires and aircon hoses you dont have to remember everything ... when you put it back you'll know wat to do. i didnt know anything to but dont be afraid even if you do break it who cares you puting new one in .... lol............. seriously i've done it so dont be afraid........... cheers

what about those who have an aftermarket head unit? Does the whole thing need to be taken out, bracket and all, or just the unit itself? single din that is

I too have changed the cetnre console (painted it matt black). It is very straight forward as Rayner22 has described.
One area I stuffed up in was the cable clip for the temperuture dial. This unclipped and I did not notice until I put it all back together and could not dial in any heat. had to take it all back out and reattach the cable clip. |
