As a passenger, I went out with a friend to his local track, Ahvenisto in Finland, and was subjected to 5 laps in his M140i. I struggled not to lose consciousness, honestly.
Otherwise, it was last year when I drove another friend's Tesla Model S, in Germany. He'd earlier done a lap of the Nurburgring, and was going to go out as a passenger in another car, but needed the Tesla taken to a charger, as he was leaving to go home to Norway the next day, so he handed the car over and I took it back to our campground to plug in. Didn't drive it like an idiot, but I DID test out the acceleration...holy sheeet... Having said all that, I'd take the BMW over the Tesla if I could keep one.

This is related but different...
Not a car I'd ever driven or ever will, but Dad took me to the Gold Coast Indycar in 1995. I loved the V8s and had seen many Indycar races before, but the sheer noise and speed of those single seaters was amazing. But there was one instance that literally took my breathe away, I was walking towards the 5 part chicane and I remember hearing an Indycar coming, so I swung around and Greg Moore ripped past right next to the fence where I was and the force of the air pressure change literally stole my breath for a split second. As much as I love fast road cars or even tin top racing cars, absolutely nothing compares or impresses me more than a single seater at full song!

I’ve got regular access to a McLaren 720s. It’s the only car I’ve ever driven that constantly makes me s**t myself. I never get used to it. Just an incredible machine, makes our 997.2 911 turbo feel like a kitteh.

Old car fast is deffinately not as quick as new car fast. But old cars, your right foot is traction control, your left is abs, your face is the airbag, and your arms are dynamic stability control. You drive the car, the car doesnt drive you. Righto, no safety business, but more challenge. I find that more satisfying.

My mate's brothers 300ZX TT with N1 turbos tearing down Hindmarsh Drive. Clocked it.
My mate's XF Falcon with a Mustang engine. That really made me **** my self since it was in the suburbs. My other mate's VE2 SSV-R. Cammed and supercharged, 400+rwkw I don't know how I haven't **** my self. I told him to calm it the **** down heaps of times I remember driving it and feeling how good it handles for such a big car. And finally my WRX. Blew my mind for a while when I got it. I'm well used to it now but still has a bit of chop for a stock car. |

It's a good thing that Pottery Beige didn't have one of those at Roxby Downs

I suppose the biggest spin out I got was coming just out of Darwin at the last set of lights.
I was heading just out of Darwin 1987 a about 3 in the morning and sitting at the lights was a XC Hardtop that I had seen at the drags that was a 351 that could rev to 9000rpm and do 9 sec 1/4, so I put on a show in my XC stock 5.8L with extractors and dual exhaust p van as I was coming down and turning in front of him at the lights. I was smiling at my display knowing he could beat me but I did my best at showing him how it's done, well I seen the lights coming up from behind and f me dead I got sand blasted, me arm and face I could not hardly see him disappear in the distance. I was still flat to the boards but it was like I was standing still. I have never something like that on the road, next time I will be ready to screw the window up before hand. |

About a year back I was at a club track day with my Cousin who had a 2016 Focus RS. He's been doing track work for the last 20 or so years, so also knows what he's up to.
Very small right track (Lakeside DTC). The acceleration, cornering and most of all Braking of this machine was absolutely insane Sadly, he's since sold the car and I never got a drive, but as a passenger it was a hell of an experience!

(then my next car was a fairly extensively modded 93 XR6 which made the Seca seem slow.)

~35 years ago I knew a guy with an old milk truck that had been converted to run on LPG.
Whether it was the quality of the gas, or just the tuning, I don't know, but it literally smelt like sh!t. Really took your breath away.

Today, a mate took me for a spin in his 2020 m5 BMW, i've been in a lot of fast and faster cars but this for something dead stock has brutal linear acceleration, just a hair off a Hellcat in a limo package, plus tough exhaust note when on it.

I had a mate of mine that his father whom had passed away left him his Volvo.
It was way back in 1977 and my mate got the motor fully worked, took out the automatic transmission and put a manual gearbox in got new tyre's and a new exhaust system. one day we were just driving around and we were in Rose Bay in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney at the traffic lights and a Holden Monaro GTS 308 pulled up and the passenger said to my mate " your kidding mate a Volvo" and started laughing. The lights went green and his Volvo just took off like a rocket when i turned around to have a look the Monaro was 100 meters behind us. We pulled over and the guys in the Monaro pulled over behind us got out and said "**** what kind of V8 do you have in that'? My mate said "it doesn't have a V8 its got a fuel injected 6 cylinder" and we opened the bonnet to show him. He just shook his head and walked off with out saying a word. |

Ferrari for posing, Lambo for that gorgeous V10 note (there’s no better sound than a V10), and a Porsche for everything else - the smart mans performance vehicle. |

My young brother had a Magna. It's performance took my breath away. The amount of oil smoke when he started her up...I couldn't breathe.
