Call me a bogan, but I feel the Falcon is a better car. Far more rounded for Australia. And I doubt it would have sold anywhere near as popular if called something else other than mustang.

And on top of that, it is apparently unsafe.

It just looks and feels like it's fad more than anything to own a Mustang (at least the new ones) just jumping on the popular bandwagon, without actually thinking about it & making an educated decision.

What are you smoking? Why the need to compare to an obsolete four door sedan? They're completely two different cars that more often than not have different buyers and are bought for different purposes. The mustang never contributed to the Falcons demise. The rise of the double cab ute and SUV did, as well as people like yourself who hold onto old bangers instead of upgrading for new.

A two door coupe isnt everyone's cuppa tea but Id have thought motoring enthusiasts would be grateful Ford are the only company to offer old school muscle with a real gear box at a relatively affordable price. you want a similar car with performance to match then you will need six figures and something out of Europe.

More rounded for Australia you reckon, what a joke, I recently drove Port Hedland-Newman-Nulligine-Marble Bar-PHE with about 250km of that dirt. Your well rounded for Oz Falcon wouldn't stand a **** show on those roads with the rain that has hit over the past six months.

This is for Mustang fans and non-Mustang fans.

Mustang is still a Ford; I love Fords.

I love my Mustang, it's been a childhood dream to own one. It just seems so childish to groan and roll eyes when a Mustang is spotted, says more about the person than the car.

I've loved my Falcons too over the years, still love to see any FPV, GT etc, on the road. Love our Territory, that's a great Ford.

My least loved Ford is our Focus.

I did not start the thread as a bashing Mustang thread- just simply observation that there is a changing of the guard on the roads.

And the fact that I paid attention to Mustangs when I saw them, and that a Mustang on the M1 accelerated to catch me and sat on my tail-shows that owners of Mustangs and FGX XR8s appreciate one another.

And I do not like all Fords, got some crappy Ford toy baby SUV with a variable CVT transmission when my car was in repairs, worst car I have ever driven -EVER.

I was pointing out, probably in a subtle way that poster that they were having a go at someone who was voicing an opinion. The "eye rolling" really grinds my gears, everyone's opinion is worthwhile and as freedom of speech goes is allowed but what is not cool is sarcasm as it doesn't contribute anything.

Was sitting outdoors having a pub meal yesterday and we were talking about how many Mustangs we saw on the way and around the area. Lots of diifernet colour chouces too by the looks. Seen plenty in black and red and silver but I saw a dark blue one yesterday that looked tough as as well as a deep burgundy wine.
The other night we pulled up next to one in what looked to be a burnt orange.
The car looks great in all these colours.
The hard to spot cars are the FG-X's

Mine was a supercharged V8. Ok, my XR8 doesn't have a massive blower hanging out the bonnet but it does sound like a strangled cat and has instant power.

Having said that, when I was shopping a little over a year ago, I would have passed on probably the last chance I'd ever have of owning a supercharged V8 for a Mustang.. if there wasn't a 1 year waiting list.

Love seeing them on the road and I'm envious when I do!

I see at least 2-3 per week..... I see more of these than FPV's !
Saw my 1st ragtop yesterday as well

I love seeing them and my only gripe is that owners are just too conservative with them. I'm looking forward to seeing more modified units running around. Bigger wider wheels , better exhausts for a nicer soundtrack and sitting on some lowered springs.....
They have the potential to look so good.

I like seeing more of these on the roads.

The timing didn't quite work out for me. I'd had my R-Spec 2 years when the GT-F came about. Didn't want to lose a motza on depreciation so I passed on the GT-F.

Mustang was then announced as a factory RHD and I decided to go for one. I've had mine for around 14 months now and very happy with it- I believe I got a "good one".

Then there was the Sprint but I'd already had the R-Spec - which I sold privately for a very good price.

Some of the engineering detail on the FG's & FG-X's is excellent - particularly the weather/dust seals on the doors - and the finish of the outer door skins where they fold around to the inner skin is much better than on the Mustang.

It is a shame we've lost that manufacturing capability.

The FG-X is a very good looking car, in my eyes, and I'm always checking when I see one if it is a Sprint 6 or an 8 - they're very rare.

So true... Especially now that there are more new Mustangs on the road than the total number of FG-X XR8's ever produced and sold.

While I agree with your first two paragraphs I don't with the 3rd.

My old neighbour owns Warrawagine Station smack bang in the middle of that area. I used to take my Falcon up there regularly, Robin used to laugh his head off as he reckoned I had the only "car" that could make it up his driveway. A good old BA Falcon.

Being in Sydney I spot Mustangs here and there farfarfar more than FPV's and Sprints thats for sure.
I could have bought the Pony but last aussie made won my heart easily especially that its a finer tuned fpv imo and stealth looking compared next to my T3....
Pony looks great on the road when I see one (especially the rear) and tbh I'm feeling great that the locals I talked about are looking rarer or hard to spot in such a very short time.
When I'm in mine I can tell passerbyers are checking it out.
Pony just as Falcon is great bang for buck and its a Ford - I'll get one sooner or later.

I'm counting them now... saw six over the weekend. Nice blue/ charchoal stripe one in a carpark covered in carbon splitters and diffusers. Bit fast and the furious but alright.
Pulled up next to a yellow/ black stripe ecoboost yesterday in my yellow/ black stripe Escort RS. Wound down the window and politely said 'I like the colour' the little asian lady behind the wheel couldn't get her windows up quick enough, haha like I was going to carjack her or something.

Lol- more likely the driver of the ecoboost would hijack your 2 litre Escort RS....assuming they were a Ford enthusiast and knew the heritage behind the RS 2 lire escort. I was a kid in high school and cycling past drooled over the yellow and light blue ones...

I used to also wonder- "how do the drivers handle the power- its a bit overkill compared to the 1600's" ....ha ha how things change
