Default AU wont start

Hi all,

Long time no see.

I had a rare spike in motivation and decided to start getting the car back to its former glory.

When I went to start it, the battery was beyond dead. I replaced it and it tried to crank but wouldn't start. I put some fresh 98 in it, and still no luck.

When I turn the ignition on, I don't hear the fuel pump prime, which I am thinking is the cause.

I did a bit of searching around forums and saw it could be the BEM, which I am doubting given how close it gets to starting. I went to an auto shop and got some aerostart, which almost got it going but still no luck.

I tried to follow steps online to reprogramme the keys but didn't seem to work

Any other suggestions what it could be? I am going to order a higher pressure walbro intake pump just in case. It will be needed for when its boosted anyway, and will also rule out one possible fault.

Thanks in advance,
Matt!

What's the security light (hand) doing?

With the keys locked out of the BEM you will be able to crank the engine and this light will flash constantly.

Could be a fair few things, are you getting spark, fuel and injector pulse?

Seen a fair few cars that have been sitting a long time and wont start due to plugs

Remove the fuel pump & put it to power if you can (not sure what voltage), & see if it runs.
If the BEM was powerless for sometime, it could be that it's not recognising the key chip.

Turns out it was the fuel pump. Last night I installed a walbro in-tank.
Starts and runs but is running very rich.

Will be good when the turbo is strapped back on.

Thanks for the suggestions all. Thankfully it wasn't the BEM forgetting me.
