Default MB Mondeo Zetec TDCI stalling

Hi Guys
I have a 2009 MB Mondeo TDCI , which i have owned for about 18 months.
I have this intermittent problem where my car stalls coming to a stop or slowing to make a turn. Then when i restart the car the transmission seems to flare & stick in 1st gear & then all of a sudden its fine again.
I have had it serviced twice in the last 12 months & the problem seems to be worse immediatley after a service & then it may not stall for 2 - 3 months.
I'm just wondering if this is a fault with this model or if I'm just unlucky.

I haven't heard of it before.
They are definitely related. It sounds like the tranny is getting stuck in gear so when you are slowing down it ends up stalling, like if you forget to put the clutch in on a manual.
Have you had any work done to the transmission on the two recent services?
Any engine warning lights when it happens?

Hi Binny
I have been told by 3 different people including a Ford dealer that this model tranny is unserviceable , which I find ridiculous .
No warning lights at all , car doesn't even splutter , it just shuts down

I'm sure there are some threads here in the Mondeo forum about the convention 6 speeds being "unserviceable" I'm sure people have found ways to change the fluid (and it was black and burnt) Its worth doing a search.
Might also be worth talking to a good transmission specialist to see what they think as its out of warranty anyway. A transmission place would be more likely to diagnose the problem based on how its behaving than a ford dealer could IMHO.

They are indeed serviceable. I have had mine done in a bid to sort harsh changes and I know of at least one other from memory that has. When the oil came out of mine it was not only burnt but also a very thick constancy. It was done at 60000kms and will be done again at 100000

I'm having my Mondeo in for a tranny service tomorrow.

It's not done anything like you've described, but I've noticed a few shifts not being as precise as I'd expect, so off to the auto guy it goes!

Hope you get yours sorted.
